DO YOU CASH OUT $$$$

I have a difficult time convincing my friends and family that cruising is affordable. For some reason they think my husband and I are wealthy because we cruise and travel a lot. I try to explain to them that they can book through the cruise line or a travel site (priceline.co. for example) and pay a deposit which is sometimes $0-$99 then just pay over time up to a designated date. They thought that we just cashed out for the entire trip at once.....I'm curious to know how do you guys feed your cruise addictions? Do you save? Do you look for pay deposit only deals like I do? Do you just cash out because you are a baller? lol I would love to cruise at least twice a year instead of once.

We do the same......All we have to do is have spending money

we pay the deposit and then every month we make a payment, similar to a credit card, bill, etc. Easier that way, and we do it well in advance so that is paid in full long before departure

If I lived within driving distance (2hour max) I would cruise every other month

Cruise by any means necessary...I agree Happy

We have done last minute, pay in full cruises and also booked more than a year out ones. We have a travel budget, but when the need to get on a ship coincides with a great bargain, we sometimes go over it. We have often gone a year without cruising and then we have 28 sea days in a four month period. We look for a special deals on cruises and airfare. Usually we book and pay it off in increments. We have also started with saving in small payments to ourselves (cruise fund) and then booked our cruise. When spread out over time a cruise really isn't that expensive.

Because we have to fly to any ports to cruise, we have to save and plan carefully.

We have a savings account for cruising so it can be managed.

I have to save. I will also put aside some of my income tax return to help. A few times I've put on my credit card. Whatever it takes.

Most of the time I book 90 days or less out so full payment is due. I book most of my cruises through Vacationstogo.com. I feel that if I can't pay for it in cash, then I can not afford it (yes I'm one of those that pays off credit cards off each month).

We include cruising in our annual budget. Whatever the deposit is, we have it accounted for. When the final payment comes due, we have that put aside as well.

I went through a TA this time and we did a deposit for the booking, then they took the remaining balance in July. It went on the CC so as long as I had the balance, I was fine... It was the process of paying my CC off is the tough part... Slowly but surely.
