Dieting and cruising

I have read a few reviews about dieting on a ship so that you don't gain a pound a day. for me food is part of the enjoyment of a cruise.

When I was in my 20's and 30's I was on the sea food diet, if I saw food I'd eat it and stay skinny. (I'm talking 2 dinners and multiple ice cream and cake after dinner and hitting the midnight buffet) Well, that changed in the 40's. What I do now is I pre-diet before a cruise, while on the cruise I take the stairs and make sure to do lots of walking in ports. When I do this I have no guilt about eating what I want on the ship and only putting on a pound or two that I can drop when back home.

What do you do to not put on the 1 to 2 pounds a day that cruising can do to you ?

So we had kind of iffy experience with our waiters on our last cruise.. My BF's father talked to the manager and really treated us right the next day to make it up to us. Well the next night was formal night and lobster night. I ordered a lobster, and my BF ordered one and another entree (gave me the lobster because he doesn't care for it)

Well I would have been content with 2 lobster tails, but the manager came out with a plate of losbter tails and automatically gave each plate a second tail... I was in the process of having them de-shelled and the manager had a bit of an odd confused look on his face and I just told him to roll with it and It was all good....

Needless to say I went straight to the cabin and had a food coma that night.

I'm just glad I didn't order 2 lobsters myself or I would have had 6 tails!!

Um, am I the only one who wants to hear the 4 lobster tail story…?

Food is a big hot point for all the reviews. You can't please everyone... I'm trying to Pre-Cruise trim down, but it's hard. I enjoy myself while on the cruise personally and know my man does too. We don't go out and I cook boring meals so why not splurge with 4 lobster tails (Long story)

Actually, after you've cruised for awhile, you don't have that need to overeat. It is fun to watch the newbies pile their plates and do the balancing act back to their table. Oh, and it was easier to eat more when trays were readily available.
