Cruise Crud

Just got back from our cruise and it seems that A LOT of people have "cruise crud" A lot of people are posting in my cruise specific Facebook group that they have coughing, laryngitis etc. My non husband started hacking up a lung the last 2 days of the cruise and lost his voice a little. I now have laryngitis and occasional coughing up phlegm and occasional thick snot. I have seen people post about this on previous cruises but was always fortunate enough to not get it. Just to be clear, our cruise was FANTASTIC!!! If I could do it all over, I would.
How many of you have taken a cruise and wound up with "cruise crud".

Right on- I use a similar routine + Zycam if someone sneezes near me.

Yep - I carry Zycam. Use it if I start to get the early signs of a cold. Its helped with mitigating all the symptoms. Doesn't work for all.

I have gotten sick towards the end or right after a few of our cruises. I think it was partly the cruise but we also fly to and from the main port most of the time. It's very easy to pick something up in an airport or on a plane. I try very hard to make sure to take Airborne or Emergen C prior, during and post cruise. It has worked out great for me except for the few times I didn't do it. I always wash my hands at the hand washing stations or use "Washy Washy" before and after eating/drinking.

We do at least 2 a year, and work in a few land trips here n there...cures the "ramminess"...its just the two of us...amazing thing we discovered re laundry and dishes....the laundry and dishes don't care.....

Us too! Do you do the thing my family does... "last week/month/year at this time we were doing such and such on the cruise"? Then we take a collective sigh and go back to laundry and dishes.

Not a doctor but until I let it lapse I was a nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician.

WOW!!! Are you a doctor? If not, you should be. We had taken precaution and gotten a few immunizations before going on this last one. We went to Costa Rica and Panama Canal among a few other places. Theses were new to us and I am paranoid. As for airborne, someone in my cruise page did that but it didn't work. I got better on my own but he finally gave in and went to the doctor yesterday. Hoping he is better soon.

I had heard a lot of others complain about it before but was lucky not to get it. I belong to a lot of cruise pages and learn a lot from them.

We live within driving distance from NY and Baltimore. Flying would add more of an expense to our trip and more stress for me. I'd rather put the money toward a nicer room on the ship. I feel for those that are land locked and have to fly. There are bucket list trips that I will have to fly to so maybe someday.

That's a helluva post MARYRED...I felt ok when I started it,, but now...yuck....
