Covid Mask Use

Do you think with the advent of vaccines for cruise employees and guests that masks use will be eliminated or reduced? If so at what level of inoculation?

When first starting up I am pretty sure that masks will be mandated for some settings on the ship where spacing is not an issue but as time goes by that may ease a bit unless there is an outbreak somewhere on a ship at which point it will possibly require more mask usage. Just my gut on this but we shall see.

It may be part of a phased reopening, so it's hard to say. I work in a nursing home, every time there's an uptick in cases in the area, we get rolled back a phase in reopening. It may be the same with the masking issue.

I agree, thanks Cruise Queen.

i agree, it is up in the air. We got lucky and got our 2 shots each.

I am reasonably confident that the CDC will require them for the ships ability to sail.

I think that masks will be around for another year, maybe longer on ships since they are under the CDC.

I also see a proof of Vaccine needed to get on a ship.

I agree, with one glaring exception...since kids under what 18 are not going to get the vaccine at least in the foreseeable future, that means parents can't bring their kids, or are they somehow exempt...even as "carriers"???

We hanging with only vaccinated people and very limited at best. I would hope only persons with shots will be on a cruise, including employees. This has started and interesting discussion.

The big cruise lines have already said all employees will be vaccinated...Assuming for the moment that the cruise lines can't afford to deny people boarding because they don't have a shot, (or have a mechanism to prove it which is another story entirely)...or deny folks the ability to bring their children under 18, just how d'you plan to protect yourself given the "nature of the beast" onboard...Going on a cruise isn't the best way to avoid crowds of people...The actual % of people over 65 who have gotten a shot is still way too low, and they haven't even started to vaccinate that HUGE group between 18-65. Cruise lines have claimed they'll be ready to "resume" how many times so far, and had to change the dates??? One case on board anybody's ship will turn into the biggest "we warned you" in history....
