Going on Island Princess this week. Her sister ship is Coral. Haven't been on either. From what I've read, Coral is, I believe, original configuration, pure as the wind driven snow. Island is a ship touched by greedy men. They shoved more rooms onto her for more profits. A soiled dove. Who has been on both and what is your opinion of each?

Coral vs. Island Princess

Thanks everyone for the great advice. Starting the trip tomorrow. This time tomorrow evening I'll be at Doubletree San Pedro maybe sipping a glass of Riesling wine over looking the marina. I'm on month vacation. I call this type of vacation practicing for retirement. 12 more years to go! Hope to post pictures during the trip.
Have an awesome trip! Enjoy your month off and both cruises ,,,

I loved the Island Princess. The Horizon Court is forward and a lovely place in the morning.
The best place for the transit is forward to the secret deck on deck 10 or 11.
Enjoy the ship...
When we were on this cruise, it was the Crown Princess but same ports ... really enjoyed it! Put a penny on the track in Astoria that the trolley runs on - lol!
Have a great cruise.
It was awkward walking on deck 7 on the Island Princess, because it doesn't have a complete open circuit around the ship. You either go through the ship at the end that has been converted to cabins or turn around and retrace your steps. It isn't difficult but frustrating. We enjoyed the Island Princess but have not sailed the Coral Princess to be able to give you a comparison.
You certainly have it good out there in FL for cruising. Wish we had as many options out here West as you do out there.
Sorry to report that I have been on neither.
Thanks Kennicott. Another positive I've seen is just about all the reviews I've read have been happy with the staff and I'm easy to please. I always use the ship gym so this ship will be interesting to see. I read that not only is the gym shoved in the center line aft, it's not well maintain. I'll be certainly giving a full review of Island when I return.
I'm packed and just today added an extra day at the hotel in San Pedro so I can go visit the USS Iowa.
That's a fun thing to tour ... we also went to Shoreline Village and hung out for the day on our return ... it's about 10 minutes from Pier ...lots to do there too!
Will do!

I've been on ships before where all I've heard was negative stuff about them before we went, turned out they were some of the best voyages we been on. Have a great cruise and be sure and give us all here a complete run down upon return.
