Book Early or Last Minute for Best Value

Some passengers like to book early when cruise ships have few bookings to get a good price, best selection of stateroom & dining choice. Others prefer the strategy for waiting until last minute - now 90 days out - after final payments are due to get unsold staterooms at bargain prices. Which do you prefer?

We book around 6-8 months out.

Early. Have to get that vacation time planned; can’t have too many people in the department gone at once. Plus, those last minute deals aren’t nearly as common as they were 10-15 years ago.

I, too, am a plan ahead type of person. We book early and then watch for price drops. This way we get the cabin that we want and more importantly, the dining time we want. If it is a quick cruise & we see as great deal that we can't pass up, we have been know to book last minute. Of course, we never get the dining time that we want but we have always managed to switch after a day or two on board.

I try to book as early as possible in order to get the "perfect" cabin. Princess and Carnival (and possibly others) are pretty good about allowing you to adjust the booking to account for any pre-deadline price decreases.

Book early especially if I am using a "casino offer" as those rooms go fast. Plus I like planning way ahead. If price drops, Princess has always adjusted accordingly.
