ANYBODY EVER CANCEL BECAUSE OF WEATHER? or just worry and go anyway??

Theres a point in the process where its "difficult" to back out...lets leave it at that. We have never done it, and I'm certainly not talking about health related issues..Just Ive noticed some experienced cruisers with cruises scheduled in the near future, prime hurricane season...seems like both coasts. We've done the weather prediction bit, all kinds of websites profess all kinds of accuracy predicting weather anywhere in the world...get closer and closer and start getting concerned...never mattered, we always went, and usually did just fine...sometimes skirting some heavy weather, sometimes lack of sun, or rainy tours, when we used to take em.

Just curious, anybody actually changed plans, reservations based on PREDICTED weather..the old watch every forecast looking for a good one trick???

We book every year during hurricane season because it is the best time for finding deals. We've only come close to being cancelled once. We were on the second cruise out of San Juan last year. The problem was whether we would be able to get a flight in. It all worked out and we only missed one port, St. Martin.

We tried to cancel or switch cruises, but insurance wouldn't cover and RCI wouldn't allow since the cruise was not cancelled.

Been lucky so far but it happens.

We live near Galveston and we do not book any cruises during "hurricane season". So we do not worry. Sometimes Galveston gets fogged in and Carnival calls us to let us know ship will be late..it is good of them. If they get in late where the cruise is shortened, they give you shipboard credit. But that is the only thing we deal with is fog. All the rain we are having(again we are not booked, but the news reported this)caused Galvestons streets to flood. Carnival departure of the ship was delayed until everyone got on board.

I think you answered your own question with all the reasons you stated. I guess the only way not to go is if the departure port is closed due to weather like Hurricane Florence. I don't know what happens but I'd hope the cruise line would do a refund. So far I've had no problems
