And now for something completely different ... what one couple encountered while entering their cabin

They always tell you to expect anything. First time cruisers embarking on a cruise and entering their cabin find ..... oops.

We have seen the corridor cameras on several ships we have sailed, if you look for them they are easy to spot. We have noticed the ones covering the outside of the ship (for people going overboard). We have never seen one in the cabin hooked up or otherwise. We do look because it is in our nature to do so. In the world we live in, sadly, we are often on camera when we don't know it.... I know there are cameras around the ship for safety reasons and that doesn't bother me. I just like to know where they are. We asked when on a tour of the ship if there were cameras in cabins and were told no, but yes to the hallways and several other locations around the ship. We have as much fun looking for the cameras as we do looking for the ship's coin (ship's coin on Carnival don't know about other lines).

A camera inside the cabin would be a huge invasion of privacy, which the lines are not willing to commit.

Aside from inside the passenger cabins and restrooms, be sure you are smiling for Candid Camera!

You guys are too much!! I love it! "Sanitize the ceilings" and "not doing it right". Regarding the hidden cameras...I was trying not to think about that. Ever seen "People of Walmart" website? Oh my dear. Careful where you pick your wedgies people. Big Smile

Luckily, I have yet to appear on a WalMart video.Big Smile

I may have appeared in a Carnival video or two, but I don't remember some parts of those cruises!

That's just getting your cruise $$ worth..

I shudder to think what I've been caught on camera doing lol wedgies has to be #1. Those things can be debilitating!!!

I could be wrong, but I don't see how actual Walmart security camera footage winds up online..Ive seen some of those, and I think theyre taken by OTHER peeps prowling the aisles..

Well, I'm certain that cruise lines are not placing closed circuit video cameras in cabins. However, I've been known to be a little naive when it comes to underestimating the loathsome character of some fellow human beings. It wasn't that long ago that a fellow had built a fourplex or fiveplex apartment building up in the Valley. The apartments were pretty nice, with large mirrors in the bathrooms. He rented primarily to single women. One day the boy friend of one of the young ladies was in her apartment. It so happened he was a carpenter and framer. As he set in a chair looking around it dawned on him something was strange about the place. The inside dimensions didn't make any sense when compared to the outside dimensions. He got to investigating. Found one way mirrors in the bathrooms with an nice alcove behind the mirrors, where one could sit and take in all the bathroom action. Cops were called, the owner/manager got out of Dodge before they could incarcerate him. One of the lady tenants said "It makes my skin crawl just to think about it."

Ewww....that's some lifetime move stuff there! That's pretty hard up.

True. I think the thought of it is just that it's happening at wal-mart. Shudder. So true. Sometimes, I feel real pretty going there considering the alternatives. Big Smile
