Helpful VotesWhile I am fairly new to cruising, my husband has over 40 under his belt. His love for it quickly rubbed off and I am enjoying exploring new destinations. In the past he favored the Caribbean but my love for Europe and Asia are rubbing off and we are now researching new cruise destinations. Cruising - what a great way to see the world!

LOVED ALASKA
The weather leaving Seattle was rainy and we expected the same for the entire trip per the forecast but only had rain in Juneau and then glorious glorious sun!
My husband and I traveled with my mom and aunt (my aunt had broken her foot a few weeks prior to travel but she was able to get along with a walker). The rooms were nice, I really liked the closet space and amount of hangers they provided. And I can't say enough about the glorious feather pillows- but thats where my praise ends. My aunt needed to ice her foot daily and although this was made clear to our room attendant, we had to remind him daily. I'm a fan of the towel animals, silly I know, I asked every night and finally received one that was held together with tape-lol. The elevators were a joke, it really was quicker to walk the stairs but my mom and aunt couldn't, so we stuck it out. The Horizon Court was also a joke, I have never seen such a cluster day after day and it never improved. The guest would just sit at the table for hours with no consideration for those trying to sit down to eat. There were plenty of other inside areas to sit and visit. The main dining room was acceptable, but nothing beyond that. The Princess Theater is tiny and was over packed for ever show (people were allowed to sit in the isles and on the steps :(
With that said the ports were glorious as was the weather. Yes it rained in Juneau, but we had planned for this and stayed dry and warm. We booked the Juneau Glacier/Whale watch combo and loved every minute! We were lucky and were able to see Humpback and Orcas, multiple times. And the seafood was out of this world! In Skagway we booked the Yukon Discovery Tour and had a blast! It was our drivers 12th season and he had wonderful insight and great stories to share. We even enjoyed a little snow on the way up to the Yukon Territory. The weather could not have been better in Tracy Arm Fjord and we were able to get very close to the glacier. In Ketchikan the sun shined all day and we enjoyed a lovely walk around town. Arriving so late in Victoria was a little disappointing but it was perfect for great sunset photos (the souvenirs were the $$$ here). We loved our Alaskan adventure but will not travel Princess again, there are just better cruise lines.
** For some reason most of my photos were too large to post- but a few worked.
January 2015 - 7 Night Western Caribbean (Galveston Roundtrip) Cruise on Navigator of the Seas
New Year and New Adventure
This is our first cruise on the ship and with an easy departure only a few hours away out of Galveston we thought why not! We arrived a day early and stay at the Habor House which was wonderful- highly recommend this boutique hotel for cruisers. The ships are so close you can almost touch them. Our room had a great view of the ship coming into port that morning, helped build the excitement. Embarking was not as flawless and it could have been but once we were on board it was great. Room (balcony) was clean and well appointed. Our robes were folded and waiting for us love being a Diamond Plus member.
Chilly leaving Texas and the first 12 hours were a little rough, plenty of sea sickness going around (luckily not me!) but extra effort was put in place to make everyone more comfortable. Once we hit calmer sea and the weather warmed all was right with the world again and we all hit the pools!
So many choices for food and entertainment it's almost impossible to be let down. We took a kitchen tour and were amazed at all that goes into feeding us. Everything from the belly flop competition, rock climbing, the flow rider (not me-lol), Trivia games, even a little karaoke there really is something for everyone...
We enjoyed a wonderful diner at Sabor Modern Mexican which had just been added to the ship. Table side guacamole is highly recommended from this Tex-Mex lover.

Fabulous First
This was my first cruise and all I can say is it set the standard high for all future cruises. My husband (fiancé then) has cruised 40+ times; Royal Caribbean is his favorite line and Oasis his favorite ship so when he gave me a cruise for my birthday I was excited! He had just reached Diamond Plus status so there we new perks for him to enjoy too. The ship is beautiful, truly a floating city with something to do or see every minute of the day and night. Our room -standard balcony- was perfect. Our stewart saw to our every need, always greeted us by name even if he was several rooms down the hall. We were treated to several special events - my favorite was the tour of the bridge, I loved sitting in the captains chair!

Cruise tips
Went to Nachi Cocom- loved it!
Went to YaYa Beach club - great time!
I recommend Frontier Excursions- they were great!
Take the double decker bus into town (very cheap round trip) and enjoy the sights.
Definitely make the glacier and whale watching part of your port experience. We booked with Juneau Whale Watch and had a great time!
This is a very walkable town.
We booked the Dunns River Falls and Montego Bay which are opposite sides of the island- too much travel time = not enough beach time.
