Reconciliation with cruising in these times of the pandemic

3 months after our cruise I'm still trying to resolve an issue. 7 emails and nothing back over 3 hours on hold yesterday before I gave up. This cruise line needs better customer service. They gave us a very large cruise credit but we will never sail Holland America again. Or any cruise line their a part of. NEVER!

Once every so often a relocation cruise from Ft. Lauderdale to Montreal. It was the Zaandam's first trip since the Covid shutdown. Coming out of drydock in Cadiz, Spain the ship was mostly ready for taking on passengers in Florida with new crew and knowing the cabins were untouched for two years. Service, food and people were great as usual. Port select was good with Ft.Lauderdale, Boston and Bar Harbor for the US and Halifax, Sydney, Quebec and Montreal for Canada. Our 2nd time on the Zaandam (Alaska 2017), HAL did update the cabins and common areas.

Holland does a great job overall the ship is super clean and the staff VERY much focused on the people on board

This was a repositioning cruise from Montreal to Ft Lauderdale. This was a great cruise for us. I enjoyed the 3 days at sea sailing down to Florida, it provides some relaxing time to unwind and enjoy the trip. I highly recommend Holland America, however, be aware that it is definitely an older crowd. There were only 3 children under the age of 13 and then the next youngest was probably in their late 20s traveling with family. I would guess the average age of all passengers was probably in their late 70s.

First cruise, liked it, didn't love it, didn't hate it. Had a good time with family/friends. Used wrist bands for nausea suppression, seemed to work well. Not much (almost no) autumn color -- luck of the draw. Weather cooler than most people seemed to have expected. Orange night was weak. Gala nights (2) seemed designed to increase photo sales. Enjoyed Acadia and Canada. Navigator app worked well enough (airplane mode, wifi on while on ship to access this app, app doesn't really provide anything when disembarked.)

This was a very good, relaxing and cost effective way to travel to the places that we visited.

Enjoyable except for first day. Never go on the Zaandam unless it has been completely overhauled. They had the same problem last year where people had to be bused

Great cruise with ports. Staff was friendly but seemed fake by most. I guess that’s what to expect when they are on the ships for months. Missing family I’m sure and working long days

Very sleepy cruise. Lovely ship, good food however Main Dining Room service was very slow with long pauses between courses.

Once again an easy pleasant experience. Friendly staff good food nice facilities if a little tired from wear & tear. The on board internet was hopeless slow and expensive not fit for purpose. Some of the guest service personnel were supercilious in their methods of addressing even minor problems. However overall experience was very pleasant and memorable.

Over all I enjoyed my time with my wife. the cruise overall was OK , not a wow factor. Just being honest. I wish we had more time for natural areas.

Great Cruise, very relaxing, service as always on Holland America was top notch.

Delivered on expectations, great relaxing cruising

This would rank as our least favorite cruise. Zaandam, which we have cruised on twice before, was tired and need some loving care (preventative Maintenance) The staff made the cruise. The weather was cold and windy, but then it is Springtime! Missing the day in Montreal was a bummer. Entertainment was not as good as expected.

This ship needs upgrading. The TV in our stateroom never worked right even after replacing it with a different one. The DVD player didn't work at all so we never got to watch any movies. 😡

The bad weather was not the fault of Zaandam, but we were happy when the cruise was over. I would not recommend a visit to Canada this early in the season.

Excellent itenarary, perfect cabin service Entertainment could have been better

Met amazing people and had a fabulous Cruise. Would do again on a heartbeat
