Good job Cheap Tickets

Sail Date: July 30, 2010

Traveled As: Family (older children)

Room Type: Oceanview

The ship was beautiful, service exceptional, very few glitches, one with an over-charge that took quite some time to resolve.
We had amazing weather - time of trip on advice of several including our advocate from Cheap Tickets Hans Gartmann (Peter) worked well.
I really disliked the commercialism at every port - jewelry shops promoted at every turn. I would much rather have seen more of the "real" Alaska.
Glaciers were awesome; saw whales sea otters and sea lions - big bonus.
Shore excursions were well done, but pricey for time allowed. All in all - good. Carol Zehntner

Pros: Scenery of Alaska

Cons: Commercialism - I didn't want to buy diamonds....

Recommends Zaandam? Yes!

Cabin / Stateroom
Room was great - ocean view except when fog prevented it. Room was very nice.
Ship Quality
All perfect!
Food and Dining
Amazing. As husband cannot have caffeine, it would have been nice if something other than coffee, tea or water would have been offered at no additional cost.
Service and Staff
Staff was very accommodating, friendly and enjoyable.
All entertainment was great - good musical acts, funny comedian/magician and special "Elton John" review.
Juneau, Alaska
Liked what we saw except so many jewelry stores - this will be my theme in every port....
Don't Miss: Mendenhall Glacier and the tram ride
Victoria, British Columbia
Sorry we had such a short time there and that it was at night though the Parliament building was awesome.
Don't Miss: City of Victoria tour - didn't want to take the time to and from the Butchart Gardens.
Sitka, Alaska
Great tour bus driver, enjoyed not only St. Michaels, but the near-by Lutheran Church, nice greeter there.
Don't Miss: Russian Cultural dancers.
Ketchikan, Alaska
Had a mis-cue on the bus line so wasted quite a bit of time on the wrong one - our fault! Did see the totem poles, but had to hurry.
Don't Miss: Totem Heritage Center
