This was our first Windstar cruise but won't be the last one. It was a truly enjoyable and first-rate experience and we can't recommend it highly enough. It is the perfect antidote to the hustle and bustle or crowded, big cruise ships.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
The embarcation was a little less organized that we would have liked because none of the staff seemed to have the big picture of traffic flow. It wasn't bad, but not nearly as professional and pleasant as the remainder of the trip.

Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The food, for breakfast, lunch and dinner (including the speciality restaurant Candles) was consistently delicious and cooked beeautifully. The wine was a delight. For example, they had a Bordeaux rose that was 100% Cabernet Franc and exquisite in both varietal body and color and could be consumed with cheeseburgers or with grilled salmon and at $28/bottle, it was a steal! Their Cremant was called Champagne by the staff but was from outside the Champagne viticultural area. Nonetheless, it was everybit as good as the finest Chanpagnes and only $35 a bottle. We loved it.

Service and Staff
5 out of 5
This may have been the most eextraordinary staff of any of the 20-something cruises we have been on. A special note of praise goes out to the following indivisuals: Chef Jaison who always welcomed feedback on his dishes, prepared our fish exactly the way we wanted (medium rare) and came by to see how we liked our meals; Cooks Livring & Chrishon aimed to please and made sure our meals were prepared to our preference; Merrick, the Diningroom manager always made sure we had the table we wished and that we were being attended to properly; Gede, the Maitre D took personal interest in our dining experience and went out of his way to make sure we were pleased with our dining experience; Uud and Yassin were superb waiters who treated us like royalty and gave us great advice on dish selections; Maria & Jocelyn, the bar waitresses, weres prompt, acccurate and made sure we got what we asked for; Naralyn & Jennifer, receptionists as the front desk were always kind and helpful and knowledgable about any questions we asked.

Ship tip
The cabin on the second floor was extremely well laid-out. The only drawback was that there was no balcony, only a porthole. Since we only slept and got dressed in our stateroon, it wasn't a big deal and part of the bargain for having a smaller, more intimate cruise vessel.
