Review summary

This Windstar cruise of French Polynesia holds adventures that most don't experience in a lifetime. And yet, there is little risk or danger. Swimming with sharks and cuddling stingrays is a safe environment in the ocean was one highlight of our trip. Drinking coconut juice from a freshly cracked coconut and drift snorkeling was another. Watch out for the coral! Learning how to scuba down about 40 feet with a 2 on 1 guide to insure safety was unbelievable satisfying and adventure leaving us wanting to do this again in the future.

And that is just the excursions. The Windspirit with its own marina platform and the  gracious, friendly, warm crew made the trip so much nicer. And, the sail away leaves us speechless with goosebumps.

The food was terrific but we had so much to do that dinner was the only time we luxuriated in the experience of drinking and appetizers and dinner.

This particular trip comes highly recommended from people such as us who have taken 20+ cruises on large ships with lots of people. Our next cruise will definitely be on a Windstar yacht vs. the other cruise lines. We will never forget this journey!

Loved cabin 119. Felt less movement and it was close to the best stairs! Very quiet and private. Glad we chose the 1st level. No elevators though but the walk up was easy and quick.

Ship tip

The ship was just a perfect size. Everyone was great and don't miss the sail aways! Also, take the opportunity to have a 1on 1 talk with the captain about the ship, the sails etc. The bridge tour is also worth it.

The drift snorkel was fabulous. However, try to wear long water pants and long shirt. We got cut up from coral.

Raiatea, French Polynesia

Discover scuba! Yes! Wear a wet suit that they provide but you have to ask.

Bora Bora, French Polynesia

The excursion is great! They put big helmut on us which is oxygenated and brought us to the bottom for 30 minutes to see the fish and stingrays. Unique and delightful experience.

Huahine, French Polynesia

Not much to do but relax and come down from a fabulous trip.

Papeete, Tahiti

Le Meridian hotel was not impressive and the personnel where not helpful. Also, it was out of the way, not really in Papeete. Next time we will stay at the Intercontinental. It is near the Papeete Market which is full of foods and arts and crafts and black pearl jewelry etc.

Sounds wonderful! Could you please let me know how formal this ship is. Or is it more relaxed in what you wear.
