Greeted at many ports by dancers, tyco drummers, and folks greeting and waving at us upon arrival and departure.
All cities were very, very clean with helpful people. Felt extremely safe in all cities.
Once the logic of the subway and addresses can be identified it is easy to travel.
Left Japan feeling very peaceful.
Embarkation

Well organzied
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
First few days food was okay. Then had a dramatic improvement. Mexican dishes still need a bit of work.
Preferred the assigned seating at a specific time. Seems to have helped servers be more efficient.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Spa had some good value.
Shop did not seem as interesting as in previous cruises.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Nice variety of entertainers. Thier shows were very good.
Appreciate the first show at 7:30pm. Gave an opportunity to have dinner that was not rushed.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Kind and thoughtful service by all the staff.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Prefer the Vista class. The Kingsdam seemed too big. Loved getting back to this type of ship.
Every area was immaculate at all times.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Had enough room. Sofa had a bar that hit at the back of my short legs when seated.
Ship tip
Any location in midship is good. Get to know which elevators are better to use for Lido, Dining Room, and Stage.
No excursion.
Easy to pick up our luggage and catch a cab back to our hotel in tokyo. Porters helped with luggage at disembarkation. The porter was from Nepal. Knowing he was not Japanese we offered him a tip for handling all our luggage. He refused. He was a tremendous help.
House a family had lived in for 25 generations. Met one of the decedents at the property. Tea museum was excellent. Little to no English translation on items in the tea shop.
2.5 hour bus ride each way from port. Bullet train is 20 minutes. Would have been a great experience as one way or the other or both ways on the tour. Golden temple is a building in the middle of a lake painted yellow with a golden rooster on top. The steps are 3 flights of uneven with NO hand rails. Very unsafe.
Did see the palace building. Moat surrounding.
HAL excursions booked. No private excursions available.
I think this is the terminal that had vendors with silk clothing and other itmes at good prices.
The best part of the tour was a performance by dancers. Tour guide said it was a dance for Farmers. Very colorful with acrobatics and juggling
Tour bus steps were extremely high to enter the bus. Elected to stay on the bus for the final stop at the fish market. It was a positive thing.
The tour guide got lost at the fish market. Took an extra 15-20 minutes for her to find her way back with the group.
Fantastic Aquarium. One of the most memorable stops.
ice museum. Chance to purchase rice for sushi and quality dinner serving Japanese rice. Sales folks with name tags stating they spoke ENglish. Were a great help in choosing products.
Tour guide was a hoot. Mako. She explained things very well in a animated fashion. The float museum was with no or in Japanese explanations. MAko briefed us ahead of time so we were aware of the activities.
Share Japanese trivia. Best one was the story and explanation of the Toto toilet.
The terminal had vendors. Best item purchased from the trip was an umbrella with one of the floats pictured on the top of it. No one will mistake that one for theirs.
Herring museum was just a walk around the building. The guide was very interesting. He lived in Tokyo for 15 years involved in working for financial instutions. His wife and family lived here. Interesting successful family he is rightly proud of them. Sake tour was interesting. Preferred the apple and plum liquors to the sake.
Excursion was to the Observation Tower. Stunning views of the area. Cherry blossoms were at their peak, also, in Hakodate. The castle and gardens were beautiful no matter how high or at other levels.
