Relaxing Experience

Sail Date: March 18, 2007

Reviewed: 6 years ago

Traveled As: Family (older children)

Room Type: Balcony

This ship is a floating luxury hotel. You don't have to do anything. The crew is anxious to please and cleans the ship constantly. It was a delightful escape from the everyday world of rushing, laundry, cooking & cleaning. There are plenty of great activities, but you don't have to do anything you don't want to. We loved Joel Mason(Elton John impersonator). The private island is paradise.
The food is great!

Pros: Relaxing on the ship

Cons: Trip into Grand Turk

Recommends Westerdam? Yes!

San Juan, Puerto Rico
We loved the city. We walked around the old fort that surrounds the city, went to the cathedral and shopped. It is a very interesting city. Shopping is good! Skip the taxi ride and walk!
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
We went to Trunk Bay. It is beautiful and snorkeling is good, but it is a long boat ride. It was windy and rough that day. No time left after excursion to see or shop in St. Thomas.

Grand Turk Island
We were disappointed in this port. There is nothing to see in the "city". Don't waste the taxi fare. We took the power snorkeling excursion. It was great, lots of fish, not many people around. We went back to the ship instead of paying for food at Margaritaville. The activity in Turks & Caicos is on a different island where the resort hotels are. That is a 20 min. airplane flight away.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)
Paradise!
Don't Miss: walking on the beach
