Review summary

We enjoyed all the sea days...I think there were six in all. Food was not as good as Celebrity cruises but if you didn't like a dish you could always order something else. In fact they often suggested that. Luckily there is an adult swim lounge area. We loved the promenade.  The library was in a poor location - sort of the middle of a pathway and above a game playing area so noisy.  We loved watching the people on the Flowrider. There is always something to do on this ship.  The acts were not big productions but rather comedians, hypnotists, singers.  The ice show was outstanding. spectacular in fact. Certain muster stations went on certain days so that worked out well.

Well, we paid the lower amount with the hope of upgrading and ended up over the Star lounge so we could here the music. We made the best of it by just staying up and out until the band stopped at midnight. The bed was huge which meant you sort of had to squeeze through to get to the sides. There seemed to be more storage place for clothes and stuff than other cruise ships.

Ports of call

Sydney, Australia

We went 5 days early and stayed at the Holiday Inn in the Rocks then at Potts Point. Walked across the Harbor Bridge. Took the train to the Blue Mts. one day which I highly recommend - then just take the hop on bus. Went to Manley for a day and went to Bondi.

Lautoka, Fiji Islands

Sort of a dumpy town but we hired a van on shore with 8 other people at $25 apiece to take us to a resort and it was a long drive but turned out to be the perfect blue lagoon for swimming and laying on the beach. The way you have imagined Fiji to be.

Suva, Fiji

Another dumpy port but we walked to the little Fiji museum about 1 1/2 miles from the ship and it was really a wonderful little museum. Then being Sunday we walk back along the park and people were getting out of church. Nice to see everyone in their flowered dresses and the men wearing skirts.

Mystery Island, Vanuatu

We walked all the way around the island. When exiting the pier we walked to the right and all the way down the beach we saw some snorkelers. Best snorkeling on the trip. Middle of the island had stands set up. No pressure gentle people with little English. Local language and French spoken.

Isle Of Pines (Ile Des Pins), New Caledonia

Gorgeous island. We went on shore early and hired a van for $20 US to take us on a 2 hour tour with a handful of other people. It turned out to be one of the best tours we have ever taken. Even stopped at a cave with stalactites. Small fee to get in so you need French pacific francs. Then we spent rest of day laying on the beach.

Noumea, New Caledonia

Did the hop on bus to Duck Island. Pretty little island with upscale furniture but poor snorkeling because all the coral was broken. We saw better fish as we swam towards the buoys. They wanted $ to sit on the chairs. I got annoyed and left. Took the bus again and stopped at the little aquarium. Fantastic exhibit and good turtle exhibit also.
