Review summary

A great cruise , fantastic food but for the older generation (over 60s) be prepared that Oceania will add 20% onto spa prices and even charge you to top up you card for the casino !

Embarkation

2 out of 5
We were moved from port J to port B in Miami due to the windy weather - embarkation was not a good experience - we were in concierge class so had priority check in at 12 pm - looks like so did half the ship too ! Ended up queuing in a room without air conditioning, one of our party had to leave the queue as felt faint and we had to try and source some water . Passengers who’d arrived not on concierge class didn’t have to queue as long and managed to get in the ship a lot sooner ! Also , when you get to the port there are guys just taking your luggage - you don’t know who they are and just have to trust they are working for Oceania , on other cruises luggage was fealty with more professionally - and the guys expected a tip so be aware

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Cannot fault the food on board - we only had one meal which was disappointing and was in the grand dining room- all other experiences were great

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Fitness Centre was good although very popular first thing in the morning , spa was amazing but extremely overpriced ( don’t forget they add 20% on top of the advertised prices !)

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
A great asset to the company - all staff worked hard and were extremely friendly

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
A new ship so did look good , very clean

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Beautiful cabin and well appointed , did feel quite hot at night tho - air con could have been a bit more powerful

Ship tip

This ship is catered for the more older generation

Ports of call

Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

5 out of 5
We liked this as there is a dedicated shopping centre and water park just for cruise guests - a great way to relax as it was free to use

St. John's, Antigua

2 out of 5
Very disappointed with this port - very dirty and run down - constantly harassed by the locals and not a nice area - surprised Oceania decided to go to this port

Castries, St. Lucia

Bridgetown, Barbados

Again - be prepared to be harassed by taxi guys - quite a walk to get to the Centre

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
As with most ships you have to leave your luggage outside your stateroom the evening before and collect when disembarked- leaving the ship at 0800 is quite early
