Review summary

Vista is a beautiful ship....not too big and not too small. We loved the cabin we had, the availability to do laundry, the great food, the entertainment and the informative talks. However, we felt the shops on the ship had way too expensive merchandise. We would have liked a few souvenirs pertaining to our itinerary and Oceania and even some t-shirts. Also there were very few snacks available for purchase. We did not like people saving deck chairs by placing personal items on them and then leaving.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
All the food was great! I was very disappointed that wine and beer are not included with meals. We had called Oceania a few months prior to our sail date and were told that they would be included.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Cooking class - great! Putting green - fun! Bocce Ball & Corn hole were both fun with friends.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The shows in the main theater were excellent. However, unless you sit right up front it is difficult to get a seat with a good view. You have to look around people in front of you. Too bad the theater didn't have more of a slope.

Children's Programs

We didn't have children with us.

Service and Staff

Great service!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
We have never been on a ship with such a large bathroom in our cabin! We loved the shower, especially. On all other cruises we've been on, we feel so cramped in the shower.

Cabin / Stateroom

It was always very clean and the size was adequate. The closet was a bit too small, but perhaps that's because the bathroom needed space. The bathroom size was awesome!

Ship tip

Bring strong magnets and you can hang things on the walls with them. Also, I wish we had known ahead of time that we are allowed to bring our own bottles on wine on board and consume them in our cabin. We purchased some at a port after learning this and it was great!

Ports of call

San Diego, California

We loved the excursion we went on. Afterwards we toured the USS Midway museum. We wish we would have had more time.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

We went on a four-wheeling adventure and had a blast!

Puntarenas, Costa Rica

We went to a safari in Costa Rica. However, it wasn't really unique to the area. I would have rather done something more local

Panama Canal Transit

5 out of 5
Going through the Panama Canal was the main reason we went on this cruise! The experts who spoke while we were sailing were great! We had great views all the way. However, I wish we could have gotten off the ship to be able to go to the visitor center and purchase souvenirs. The ship had NO souvenirs (t-shirts, etc.) that pertained to the canal. That was extremely disappointing.

Cartagena, Colombia

We went on an excursion that took us on the choppy water to an island where we had a good meal. However, the beach there was very disappointing. We could have skipped this excursion.

George Town, Grand Cayman

We went snorkeling and had a great time. We do wish we would have had more time to snorkel.

Miami, Florida Did not visit port

We had booked an excursion, but did not get to go on it because we ended up getting off the ship later than expected.

Disembarkation

Disembarkation was extremely slow. I guess this had to do with Customs, so perhaps the ship personnel had no control over it. However, it made us miss the excursion we planned to take.
