Cruise overall was great ..... great food, drinks, entertainment and friendly staff.  Only issue was my cabin location was below kitchen and was terrible as we got no sleep during entire trip.

Wonderful relaxing cruise. by dmassey92399

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We traveled with friends and had an amazing time.  The cruise director has many fun activities, the food was excellent, and so was the service.  The comedian on the first night was hilarious, and the comedian/juggler was also hysterical.  Can't wait to plan another trip aboard a Royal Caribbean ship.

Our cruise to western caribbean by Cruiser382

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Perfect and beyond our greatest expectations are the words that best describe our cruise. From the very beginning Cruise One, Laura Whitaker, did an outstanding job in seeing that our trip was effortless. All necessary paperwork was completed in a timely manner and our cruise was outstanding. The only thing that was a disappointment was the weather our first port call in Rotan however, the weather cleared and the rest of the cruise was beautiful. Our dining staff made us feel like a king and queen. They spoiled us. Our stateroom was so clean and we truly enjoyed the cruise. We were so happy with our cruise that we signed up for another while still cruising. We are committed cruisers!!!!!!

Great to be back on Royal Caribbean! by PattyAF

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Loved this cruise!  Everyone was so friendly.  Love that you can buy the soda package online and that the Set & Sail pass had the Coke logo on it, the cups were waiting in our rooms upon arrival and we could start using it immediately.  Our cabin, 7082, was bigger then usual with a huge window we could all sit in and look out of (3 of us). When eating in the Windjammer, we had staff come around and ask if we needed anything.   They saw the Coke logo on our Set & Sail passes and offered to get us sodas.  Staff came around with cookies, cups of ice cream and cups of fruit to hand out - I've never had that happen and I've been on 5 different cruise lines!  Even though they weren't our servers at night, the wait staff in the Windjammer got to know us & always took the time to stop by our table to say "hi" and see if we needed anything.

The entertainment was great, although we didn't go see the comedy act because my 9-yr-old grandson doesn't "get it".  Loved the show with the people in the cages that came down from the ceiling in the solarium.  You could see it from the Solarium or from several different decks - totally different!

Even officers made an effort to talk to my grandson when he would ask questions.  He was sure he was speaking to the captain several times and was concerned that he wasn't up "driving the ship".  The officers all took the time to explain what their job was and that the captain was busy making sure we arrived at our next destination safely.

I would have given this a 5-star rating except our cabin steward was a bit lazy.  I told him on day 1 that I'm diabetic and constantly have a dry mouth so I suck on ice all day long and that was the only thing I really needed to make sure I had every day.  We didn't need our beds made up or changed every day and could re-use our towels to "save the waves", but I needed my ice.  4 of the 7 days I had to track him down for ice, we had 3 towel animals (the people who ate with us in the dining room had a new one every night) we were told we would have our Platinum pins on day one.  My daughter asked about it on day 6 and he finally brought them to us, he just wasn't attentive.

I would highly recommend this cruise! Oh, and don't forget to pack rain poncho's and/or umbrella's - it rained or sprinkled in Honduras and Belize.

Wouldn't repeat trip by ejcwineguy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Other than Cozumel very forgettable port stops.

Vision of Seas is an older ship with fewer amenities and less dining options. Food was mediocre and staff less motivated since tipping is now added directly to your daily account.

Vision of the Seas by GloriaP3

We have sailed over 25 times with RCCL.  This was our first bad experience.  The food was not as good as usual.  As a matter of fact, some meals were bad.  Our cabin was not kept to the high standards we are used to either.    Kids seemed to take over the dance floor each night and that made it hard for anyone to dance. On a happy note, the entire staff and crew were very nice and kept us laughing the entire time.  We dined at Chops and Izumi and both restaurants were top notch.  We are staying loyal to Royal, and hope this was a one time experience.

Vision holds up well by applehazar

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This is a smaller older ship in royal fleet.  We had a Jr suite   Great views. Very quiet 8576.   Tons of storage space.  Staff exceptional and very attentive.  Being a small ship entertainment is limited but the shows and especially the orchestra was excellent.  Weather was very bad for a Carribean cruise in March very cloudy and rainy most days but the crew did their part making it enjoyable.

Restaurants. - main dining room -  as many have posted the main dining room food has suffered.  Very bland.   Service however was very good.  So we purchased a 4 specialty dining package and a chefs table.  Chops. Excellent - get the filet much better than the NY strip.   Izumi - wow. Very good.  Giavonnis  - also very good.  Chefs Table - that is as much a show as the food and wine and was excellent.  The chef was shy but the host/server was outstanding.  Windjammer - breakfast good eggs to order.  Lunch. - not so good. Steamed burger really? Glad they had a park cafe for roast beef - excellent as usual.  Shore excursions - Roatan was a bust major  rain and the excursion people, obviously not accustomed to rain -ship gave us a 25% credit. I felt that was appropriate  Belize cave tubing. Stay with dark night was excellent    The other stop I went independent  Costa maya fun with a private resort. Cozumel been there so much just shopped.  Overall a fun trip and a good smaller ship

Great intro to cruising! by Cruiser871

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship was very clean and the staff and crew very cheerful and friendly. They created a very upbeat and fun atmosphere. The dining room experience was the best ever.  Our servers went above and beyond all expections. I have never seen a more dedicated and caring waiter than Rahul. The dinners were the best meals I have ever had the privilege to enjoy. The food truly was amazing.  The 2 performances in the theater by the Royal Carribean singers and dancers were fantastic. Too bad they didn't perform every night.  The other shows were 2 comedians and a juggler-they were not good.  The ship band performance was quite good too. Our room was very well kept by our steward Daniel. We also enjoyed our snorkeling excursions. Great week on Vision of the Seas.

Thoughts on our cruise by mjpilditch

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Pros:  ease of self-assist at end of cruise, really enjoyed the Solarium/Park Cafe area which was a peaceful oasis away from "Spring breakers", well taken care of by our stateroom attendant Mary.  Cons: soap and shampoo never replenished, food in Windjammer not as good as previous trips on this ship.  Would have rated cruise 3.5 if option was available.

Wonderful Week! by Cruiser800

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship was very well maintained and the service was excellent.  From the room steward to our night wait staff they could not have been more accommodating.  Some even took the time to learn our names which made it so much more personal.  There were enough activities on board which meant there was always something of interest no matter what your age.  The Ports on this particular cruise were all great and the excursion companies very well organized.  The food was plentiful and very good.  Overall a great experience and wonderful weather.

Older ship by Juds

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

this ship seemed tired. We had a mini suite aft that was very comfortable the balcony was very much bigger than the balcony cabins well worth the extra money.

The diningroom food was very mediocre and the service not the best, the head waiter was very accommodating.

Tye he gym was very small with separate saunas and steam room for men and women, we prefer coed. The solarium was very pleasant and the cafe there was excellent.

we enjoyed Giovanni's restaurant and had two meals there were two other restaurants but we did not go to either.

The shows were poor, very amateurish compared with other cruises.

the third day we were offered  a drinks card for $85 which was a bargain, they should offer those earlier for people who only have a few drinks a day.

I had such a great time being spoiled for a whole 7 days! Honestly, the crew makes the whole thing better! They are so personable, friendly and appear to love their job as much as I love being on vacation. I didnt want to come home and I cant wait until I can get on another cruise!

Had a blast on our honeymoon!! by duckworth1966

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall the cruise was great even though we missed one port due to big waves crashing over the peir. It was a much needed rest day for my wife and I. If you have enough time to go to San Pedro when you get it on Belize city I highly recommend it.

The cruise was excellent.  Boarding was very organized and easy.  Our cabin was kept clean and neat and we always had what we needed (towels, etc.)  The shows were great.  The food was good and our waiter was terrific and so was his assistant.  The ports of call were interesting.  Getting off the ship was again easy and very organized.

Old Folks Cruise on a small ship by margybarrett

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Cruise was boring and not worth the cost. There were many scooters and walkers and people rudely ran into everyone with them. The ship was old and even many of the crew said they did not like the ship and were trying to get re-assigned. The ports were terrible and the natives hounded us on the port gangway all the way into the towns and on the beaches. If it hadn't been for a friendly wait-staff and stateroom attendant it would have been unbearable. Cruise.com sucked in preparation and was not helpful. Will not use cruise.com again.

The people truly make the difference! by kmvonx

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The staff on board the Vision were amazing.  Everyone was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to be helpful.  It was the perfect opportunity to relax, make new friends, enjoy great (and possibly obscene amounts of) food, and see some amazing sights.  While a smaller ship, there was still plenty to do and it allowed the staff to develop relationships with the guests that truly made the week a memorable experience.

I have been on one cruise before; it was my husband's first cruise.  We both LOVED it.  Mind you, he hates boats and doesn't really enjoy the ocean, so this was a big deal for him to love it.  It was quite rocky, but neither of us minded and even him being a relative landlubber, he was fine.  We got the beverage package, and that was phenomenal - no worrying about what we got to drink and how much it might add up... glorious - and well worth it!  My husband decided that if he had enough drinks, it would be like we were basically getting paid to drink because we saved so much.  The bottled water feature alone was well worth it, and the wine and alcohol were even better!

If you have a chance to go on one of their cruises (or any other) with the comedy act "Two Funny Guys," DO IT! They were hilarious!  We literally laughed so hard our faces hurt the next day.

Ship in need of updates by rebjrb

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Ship was very old. Not a lot of choice for free dining. Food was poor in buffet area. Not a lot of choices for activities especially at night. I've never been on a ship where the buffet was closed completely. No snacks by the pool for hours except ice cream. Will probably never travel Royal Carribean again.
