Review summary

The cruise was an amazing experience and would recommend to all. Hopefully if you choose to do it, it will be on a bit newer ship.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
I brought 19 people with different check in times to the port at 11. Regardless of their appointment time, everyone was on by 11:30 am

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
I was on a 12 day cruise. This is my 4th Royal cruise of the year. The first 7 days were the same as my other cruises. I had hoped for new selections the other 5 days but it was the same options as the first 7. I might have seen one new dish.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
I was at the pool every day. More pool activities would have been great and more bingo than 3X on a 12 day cruise.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Shows just we’re not that good.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Bars were super fast. Bingo was difficult because they only had one guy selling cards. I waited in line over30 minutes both times to buy cards Dinner staff worked so hard. It wasn’t going to win any races but they did their best. Room steward was beyond amazing

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The ship was very clean but VERY dated. There are no shelves in closet and only 3 small drawers on counter. My drawer had the bottom falling out of it. The bathroom storage I liked but hated the curtain on the shower. It would stick to you every time you took a shower. No foot pedal to shave legs like other ships but you could sit on the toilet and shave. Elevators were fast but you had to push the button on both sides to call all elevators. Why not just one button?

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Mattress wasn’t the best. My back hurt pretty bad after a few nights. No shelves in closet. Drawers were small and the bottom was falling out of one. We had plenty of room as I put my suitcase under the bed. Shower uses curtains which stick to you when the water runs. No foot pedal to shave legs. Plenty of storage in shower.

Ship tip

If you can afford it, get a balcony. We had a window and it took forever for suits to dry.

Ports of call

Piraeus (Athens), Greece

5 out of 5
We did the Parthenon tour early in the AM before it got too hot. FYI, they have an elevator that can take you to the top and down. My knee was killing and I rode down. Quite an experience Went shopping in plakas. Best place in Greece to shop. Things were 1/2 what I paid in other Greek ports. Guide gave terrible instructions on how to find bus and it took an hour waking in the intense heat to find our bus. Not a good way to end our day

Kusadasi (Ephesus), Turkey

3 out of 5
I was here 12 years ago and the port is brand new. I wanted to come back to buy a rug. I didn’t do an excursion so I could spend the day shopping for one. I was almost attacked by salesmen at every store trying to get me to come to their shop. I went in two stores in the port and bought from the second. After I bought, I asked if the salesman would escort me back to the ship because I was afraid of walking back. He did but not without trying to get me to spend more money at his shops. I bought 4 rugs. Hoping they arrive and I didn’t get screwed out if $6000. I heard from others in our group it was terrible outside the port.

Cannes, France

I would recommend an excursion. I just got off and walked around. Not a lot to see to be honest and only one place to buy a tee shirt

Barcelona, Spain

Great city and easy to navigate

CARRARA, ITALY

5 out of 5
Pisa was my excursion. We saw the leaning tower and then went to the beach. Had the best spaghetti of my life at the beach club

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

4 out of 5
City was amazing but the excursion was intense. We walked over 7 miles in blistering heat. Got to be a better way

Santorini, Greece

5 out of 5
Did an excursion of Oye. Beautiful town and people were so nice. Lots of walking and be careful not to wait until the last minute to get back to ship. The cable care line can get really long.

Mykonos, Greece

5 out of 5
I love Mykonos. Expensive but beautiful port. Just walked around.

Katakolon (Olympia), Greece

4 out of 5
I got off and just walked in the port town it was cute. I bought some things and got back on board. The people were so nice. My roomie did the Olympic stadium tour and wine tasting and had a great time.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Smooth as butter. Took 5 minutes to get off and get our bags and out the terminal
