Review summary

Lovely time for this cruise but will always be weather dependent.

Embarkation

seamless

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Main dining room quite good. Manfredi's reliable and menu varied. Chef's Table is a set supine based menu. You can pick and choose and avoid those that do not appeal. Quality is less consistent than other restaurants on board.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Bridge great. Instructor Tom Musso very competent. There is usually a bridge instructor on board if there are 5 or more sea days.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Solid quality.

Children's Programs

No children younger than 18 on board

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Extremely helpful and cooperative staff.

Ship Quality

It's Viking!

Cabin / Stateroom

Smallish but well appointed; a place for everything.

Ship tip

Explore the many options the ship provides both in food and activities.

Ports of call

Montreal, Quebec

Excursion to the Laurentians. Lovely beautiful scenic day.

Quebec City, Quebec

Great. Walked 7-8 miles that day.

SAGUENAY, QUEBEC, CANADA

The port is not that interesting and due to hurricane Fiona, PEI, was still closed to ships so we spent two days here. The locals were delightful and welcoming. And the sail out the fjord in daylight was spectacular. Just not a lot to do while in port.

Cruise St. Lawrence River

5 out of 5
Beautiful views.

Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island Did not visit port

Port still closed due to damage from hurricane Fiona.

Cruise Gulf Of St. Lawrence

5 out of 5
smooth sailing

Cruise Coast Of Nova Scotia

5 out of 5
smooth sailing and great views

Saint John, New Brunswick

Charming and interesting falls/river.

Bar Harbor, Maine

3 out of 5
Port way toooooooo commercial. Town has been spoiled by cruise industry. Acadia Nat Park way too crowded; late fall, weekend, spectacular weather made for too many people.

Portland, Maine

4 out of 5
Our only slightly rainy day. Still manage 12,000+ steps. Great Lobster Boat excursion followed by walking tour with very knowledgeable guide.

Newport, Rhode Island

5 out of 5
Best overall day. But much too short. Get to port at 7am when nothing is open and have to leave by 1:30. That said, we did a great overview (1 1/2 hr) bus tour of the Ocean Road, Bellevue Ave. and center city. Then we boarded a comfortable refurbished lobster boat to view the yachts and waterfront mansions. Could get a good view from the ocean. Really needs more time for Newport.

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida Did not visit port

Got off ship; went to airport and flew home.

Disembarkation

Just walked off, picked up luggage and left. We had gone through customs when we arrived at Bar Harbor.
