Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Some meals at The Restaurant had great service others not so much. We are multiple meals at Manfredi’s which was above and beyond great. World cafe great option. Because of a lot of days in port we ate most lunches there

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Enjoyed lectures and ability to watch them on room TV either live or tape delayed including port talks for the next day. Pool was being remodeled so not available about half of cruise

Ports of call

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

4 out of 5
Could book the excursion until on board because this day included some passengers only taking front or back end cruises who could not take tours. We had choices when we boarded at start of cruise and a couple of days to choose. We went to the Vatican. Only criticism is Viking tells you to take umbrellas if raining and guide on bus tells you that you can’t take because they have to be checked and no way to go back to check in to retrieve so leave on bus. We got wet and put a damper on day. Sites beautiful. Drive by Colliseum hard to see because we were on wrong side of bus

Barcelona, Spain

We left Marsaille over 8 hours late. Don’t take a cruise during World Cup if home country playing. Due to delay all morning tours to Barcelona cancelled. We were to do the Gaudi tour that included The LaFamila which were so wanted to see. Cruise director announced a lot of cautions the day before about exploring on own and no way to get independent tour because of short notice. A total wasted port.

Messina, Sicily

Did the included tour and saw amazing animated clock tower at noon which is a must. Beautiful adjacent church

Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy

3 out of 5
No umbrellas allowed again due to museum in Florence. So got a bit wet. Very windy. Nice sites and great meal. We skipped Pisa because it was pouring and refused to get soaked. By end of this day multiple passengers were getting earaches from weather. HINT BRING A HAT WITH EAR PROTECTION OR USE EARPLUG IN EAR WITHOUT QUIETVOX

SETE (MONTPELLIER), FRANCE

4 out of 5
Carcisonne is very interesting. Make sure you know weather there versus Sete. It was 20 degrees colder and we were SO cold

Naples, Italy

5 out of 5
Pompeii and Pizza excursion. Highly recommend

Piraeus (Athens), Greece

4 out of 5
We did included tour because we are doing Greek Odyssey in a few months and will be back. Great overview. Did not get to Everonnes as we thought.

Kusadasi (Ephesus), Turkey

Guide was great. A bit windy so make sure you are prepared

HERAKLION, CRETE, GREECE

We docked at Souda instead. Closer to town. Old China nice. We did tour with Aptera and it was beautiful. Of course 68 degrees in December was great

Marseille (Provence), France

Great itinerary. Appreciate your details. It’s hard to know before hand, what teams will be playing in playoffs. Glad you enjoyed your still managed your cruise.
