Review summary

Favorite: From an informational standpoint, the Port Talks and Lectures were absolutely wonderful! It provided everything you needed to know to get the most out of each port. As far as the ports go...hard to say which was a favorite. Dubrovnik really stands out as we had a chance to walk the city walls in almost solitude. It was magnificent!!! We took an underground city tour in Naples on our own...you should include this as an option...it was fantastic!!!

Improvements: The Viking Sea was a great experience. The only area of improvement was room service. Our steward, Adonis, was great...but the in room dining was less than spectacular. Rarely was the order correct at breakfast and once our dinner was not even delivered. This was after an extremely long day in Rome and the on board restaurants were closed. Other than the in room dining...everything else was impeccable.

Pastry Chef (Ramesh??? - apologies for not knowing his name)...SUPERB - He special delivered the cannolis to our table and had a few sent to our room!!!

WOW!!! Felt more like we were in a hotel room as opposed to a cabin. It was wonderful!

Ship tip

Take advantage of the Port Talks and Lectures. The best part is, they are all recorded and available on your room TV. Also...you can access everything on your TV via your tablet or smart phone while onboard!!! Did not realize this until the last day of the trip!

Take a walk around the city walls! You will not regret it. Yes, there are a lot of stairs and steps...but you are walking through living history!

Book an underground tour of Naples. You can look it up on Viator. It is one not to be missed...great history and the engineering is amazing!!!

We chose to go out on our own to Rome...this allowed for A LOT of flexibility...but be sure to allow for 2-3 hours for your trip back to the port. We used public transport the entire time. Well worth the experience! But, taking the Rome on your Own option may have been easier.

For just a couple of Euros...jump on the bus and head over to Nice! Also, if you go to the tourist information office around the corner from the casino, they will stamp your passport for FREE. :)

Add a day or two at the end of your trip to truly explore the city. It is well worth the time.
