Great 7 day Mediterranean Cruise by KenandGinCruise

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Valiant Lady

First time cruising on Virgin Voyages. Totally chill vibe on ship. Staff and crew and passengers all very friendly. Loved the ports of call. Dining experience very different on this ship. Here is my compliment and complaint. Food very good in the specialty restaurants much like high end restaurant. Presentation is great. Food is very tasty and rich mostly due to sauces used. They do not have a buffet on board but instead have the Galley. It offers up some different dishes daily but pickins are slim. If you are only going on a 5 to 7 day cruise, you should have no complaints with the food choices. We were on board for back to back cruises for a total of 22 days and we were burnt out at eating at the individual restaurants as they do not change the menu at each restaurant. And the Galley was hit or miss. For longer cruises, I would probably cruise with a different cruise line. Overall, you should definitely give Virgin Voyages a try.

Some good some bad by bsexton2009

Definitely younger crowd. Internet was pretty good. Common areas are way too loud with club music. We’ve booked another transatlantic because the price was too good to refuse. We really enjoyed dining in the restaurants for dinner.

Cool ship. Great experience by Vaneska

Valiant Lady Western Caribbean Charm -March 19th Cruise out of Miami First time sailors on Virgin Voyages and wanted to share my experience here: We love the Virgin Voyage branding and aesthetic. That plus no kids is what sold us on this vacation on the Valiant Lady: Ship- not too big and not too small. Good layout with the roundabout being at the center that has a nice but awkward staircase. Plenty of areas to sit and lounge around inside and out. Pools are small and made for dipping not swimming. But didn’t really have much issue w finding lounge chairs. Cushioned seating outdoors went fast . Spa Thermal suite looked nice but the 3 hour window of use didn’t seem like a great deal in my opinion (but might be for some). Room - we had 9014A sea Terrace. The rooms are smaller then we are used to on cruises (atleast ours was) and the space btw TV and bed was really tight. In room controls were nice. Desk Vanity lighting was bad (not great for doing hair and makeup) . AC stopped working 3 times. It was fixed twice. Balcony hammock was fantastic perk (great for reading at sea). Bed was comfy - Nice linens. Bathroom rain shower head was great and having a door made it feel roomier somehow. Food - was pretty great all around. Favorite was the Test kitchen (if you like surprises and elegantly plated meals). Razzle Dazzle was great for a brunch. Wake steakhouse was delicious for dinner (breakfast had a small ok menu) Pink Agave was good Mexican but some dishes were lacking. Gunbae was a cool experience of Korean BBQ and recommend doing it once. Extra Virgin was lovely Italian and their steak was actually fantastic. The Dock House was our favorite place to hang - the mezze style small plates were yummy and the vibe on the back of the boat was perfect to chill out. (Plus happy hour w free drinks at 4pm!) The Galley - what would be a buffet was also good. Slightly more elevated then typical cruises and varied options that were generally the same each day (noodles/ramen tacos, sushi, burgers, all day breakfast, dessert station, salad bar, paninis…) but while convenient to sit down and order, it was a bit awkward to give the staff your random food desires and not feel self conscious. The flag system to get service does work though. We loved the bento boxes and the concept of Quickee grab and go pre packaged food options. The sun cafe on deck 16 had poke rice bowls that we had once, enjoyed but forgot about. Ice cream was excellent but only open till 10 Pizza was actually really good quality and open late. Reservations - need to be made ASAP when boarding the ship, or as soon as the booking opens in Advance of sailing. The restaurant do accommodate walk Ins (some with waiting times) and the shows book up fast. Entertainment - modern shows, mix of entertainment staff our favorite was the Duel which was a acrobatic performance with a nod to Romeo and Juliet. The Ship Show included dinner which was ok , but the entertainment was good. Musicians/music around the ship at different times was enjoyable. Scarlet Night - fun evening on deck where everyone wears red and they tell the myth of the Scarlet Night. Some performances and dancing on the pool deck. Bimini Beach Club - our favorite day at port. Beautiful white sand. Turquoise water that is unreal. Lots of loungers but front row gets snatched up fast. Not great snorkeling off the beach. 2 larger pools. Lots of seating (if you want an umbrella arrive early). Caribbean style lunch included that was tasty. Pool DJ was fantastic - great mix of music and the float party was so much fun. Service - excellent staff. The app to contact sailor services was very handy and pretty responsive. Only grumpy person was a dealer at the roulette table in the casino Cocktails- nice options at every bar and restaurant. Lots of creative choices and good prices with some ranging higher if you wanted more premium. Coffee - included drip coffee was tasty. Intelligentsia coffee at Grounds Club stations was priced decently and very good. All in all we loved sailing with Virgin and despite some things we would have liked to be different (like room space, more pools) and would def book another voyage with them.

Relaxing by Fedexchick

Ship: Valiant Lady

The cruise was very nice and relaxing. The ship was beautiful the entire staff, except two people were outstanding. The food was excellent. We loved the adults only with no kids because it’s very quiet and peaceful, but there was always things going on that you could do to have fun! Highly recommend Virgin Voyages to any adults that would like to cruise to have a great time

Wonderful new concept in crusing! by smewing

Ship: Valiant Lady

Everything was very well-done. The employees seem happy and helpful. All food and gratuities included. No dress code. Passengers can dress up if they want to, or don't have to. My husband wore nice dress shorts to every restaurant and was not under dressed. No buffet lines, no kids, if that's what travelers are looking for

A cruise for "Woke" young people by cshapley

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Valiant Lady / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The cruise provided excellent accommodation, and the restaurants were above average. Because of limited seating reservations were recommended, the reservations could be made 45 days prior to sailing but were limited to less than half the number of cruise days. However there was little entertainment offered. The main venue held about 450 and backup venue about 150, the ship was designed to carry 2,700 passengers. Consequently seeing a show required booking and the available times were limited. There were three shows, one was a cirque du soleil like enactment of Romeo and Juliet, the cast showed tremendous ability and courage. Of the other two one was a "game show", which showed little evidence of prior thought, the final one was a variety type format, including a number of performers some of whom mirrored the Romeo and Juliet show. The ship public areas seemed to be all on hallways, there were few (no) quiet areas. Total reliance on a phone base app for all reservations, activities etc. amplified any wifi issues. Using the premium onboard wifi (extra $80) allowed connection at around 5 Mbs, but the nature of the satellite link caused some sites to refuse connection. Although the cruise covered Christmas, no Christmas themed efforts, decorations etc were made by the crew. I would not recommend this cruise to anyone wishing to enjoy more than a pool and a bar

Great Cruise! by gregj93685175

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Valiant Lady / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Great cruise, different that what we were on prior to this but all in all it was a fun time. Met some really fun and great people that hopefully will cruise with someday again. We will do another Virgin Cruise but we do love the other cruise lines as well. Big plus was the no kids on board but for the cost and benefits of the other lines I can put up with some kids...

Beautiful ship for a cruise by jeanette727gt

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Valiant Lady / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Virgin's Valiant Lady is a new and beautiful ship. The decor and themes were beautiful and clever. The layout could be awkward with particular decks not connecting stem to stern, as well as bathrooms being poorly labeled or oddly placed. The sinks in public restrooms have "touchless" faucets, which need some adjustments as there was a lot of touching to get them to operate. The room was great. We booked a guaranteed ocean view room and we were placed in a partially obstructed balcony on the 8th floor. The shower is huge for a cruise ship, the rest of the bathroom small. The balcony featured their famous red hammock, which is awesome. The lights, curtains, room service, and TV are all powered by a tablet that is pretty neat, but had some quirks needing a reboot periodically. There was a touch button by the door that controls DND mode/room turnover ready, making it easy on you and the staff. Our room, however, on the port side of deck 8, was 1 level above The Manor night club, so we could hear the bass of the music into early hours of the morning. Most of the trip: itinerary, bills, events, reservations, and excursions are all managed through their app. The app needs a good IT tune up, as it has the potential to be very efficient but unfortunately was not very user friendly. The basic WiFi on the ship was adequate for general internet use, but would probably pay the upgraded WiFi if you have the intention of working remotely. Food is excellent, they made an effort and accommodations to anyone with allergies or intolerances. Whilst it is advertised as Michelin Star chef prepared, please keep in mind it is still a cruise ship where food is ordered in bulk for a massive audience. That being said, better food than any other cruise line with very diverse and interesting menu options. You have to book restaurant reservations ahead of time but we found them to be accommodating if you had to come early/late. What was less than accommodating were the shows in the evening. They were usually scheduled around 7/7:30 (generally when one would be having dinner), and you had to register to attend them...and you CAN'T sign up until you are on the ship, and shows were "sold out" immediately, whilst on a ship at less 70% capacity. You can go standby to a show, but if that show is at The Manor, you might be standing over someone's shoulder who has a seat...it's awkward and not enjoyable. They also didn't have another show option at the same time to help draw the crowd in a different direction. The entertainment itself was good but we only got to see a few things. Several events were cancelled for various reasons leaving a vacacy in our anticipated evening. Despite showtime entertainment being somewhat of a bust, there is a casino if you like gambling, but what I thought was pretty neat was the game area with karaoke, board games, bar, snack bar, and an arcade featuring all the classics (coin free!). They also have a separate area for Korean style karaoke (private rooms). Givey the fact that Virgin Voyages has only been operating for probably less than a year because of Covid, I know they are working to fix their kinks and I hope that they do because I would love to sail with them again.

Never again, Virgin Voyages. Three weeks of my life I will never get back. 12 days on the cruise and another 10 days off work recovering from CV-19. I have never been so pleased to see the UK at the end of a holiday as I was on 01.04.2022

Interesting New Experience of Virgin Voyages by Jas123

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Valiant Lady / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

This review should be prefaced by the fact that we started our cruise a day late due to a person overboard incident on the previous sailing. This meant that instead of embarking on Friday April 1st, weren't able to board until early morning on Saturday April 2nd. As such, we lost one night of our cruise and had one full day in Zeebrugge instead of an overnight stay. We were allowed to stay on the ship late (until 2pm) on debarkation day which we appreciated. We also received $200 per person onboard spending money and £300 per person future cruise credit (to be used within 60 days) which we feel is sufficient compensation. However, we did have to pay ourselves for a hotel in Portsmouth the night before the revised boarding date. We completely understand that these circumstances are out of Virgin Voyages' control and it is not in any way their fault that our cruise started late. However, what was unacceptable was that we received no communication whatsoever about the delay. We only heard late the night before we were supposed to be boarding that something might be wrong from social media, and Virgin's twitter said we had received an email - we had not. Furthermore, there is no way to contact them in UK business hours as their call centre only operates from the US. Having not heard anything official instructing us to the contrary, we proceeded to the terminal as planned on the Friday (albeit expecting some form of delay, just completely in the dark as to the details). In the terminal, there were Virgin representatives who sufficiently explained the situation and gave us all the information we needed/had been missing. From there, Virgin's handling of the unfortunate situation was fine, it is just outrageous that we received no communication before arriving at the terminal. Once onboard, we had a great cruise. Virgin are very different in many ways to other cruise lines, however the fundamental concept of cruising remains the same. The ship is really nice, the food was great (and we liked the alternative dining concept), the entertainment was certainly unique but very good and the crew are fantastic.

Poor experience by Whipuki

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Valiant Lady / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

Virgin have admitted their standards on this 11.day cruise were not.met. a free.cruise has been offered ( to be booked in the next few.weeks - codes yet to be sent) for Europe. I will not be taking this offer. .i would prefer compensation back in cash value. The current set up ( entertainment and lack of menu changes) remains the same and noted similar on other ships. There should always be scope to chill/read on a ship but have access to a full.programme of activities for every taste. Regardless.of this cruise line advertising itself as wanting to do cruising different, and I was prepared for excitement and difference with this major brand - I got nothing from it. I cannot hand on heart recommend this ship on a long haul trip. A number of passengers have genuine reasons to complain in the main. There is no clarity what virgins demographic is. .I am not an older person and enjoyed some of the energy but overall this experience was poor and I will not be recommending Virgin as it stands now

First Virgin by Buddasmom11

Ship: Valiant Lady

We were pleasantly surprised. People were friendly, the crew was wonderful. The food was top-notch. The shows were good, and the layout of the ship was nice. The one negative was the step up to get into the pool was tough because I’m older and had a hard time stepping up to get into the pool. I think they need to have some steps.

Fun Time, Good Food, Good Music, Max Capacity Summer Cruise With Limited Staff, Some Rude, Obnoxious Crowds by wccultured

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Valiant Lady

Virgin is a good line, same feedback as Scarlet. Improve cleanliness in common areas, improve customer service and provide better training to your sailor servers and clean up crew. Diversify your ships, venues and offer different cuisine, activities and entertainment. Add more hand wash stations, pools, hot tubs and spa facilities that are actually ADA compliant and not overpriced.
