Review summary

It’s a 50/50, the size of the ship make you feel like a council estate when next to the modern ships and the top level crew made it a class status cruise but the waiting staff and stewards make you want to use TUI again.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Cramped, crowded and unorganised. Herded from plane to coaches like cattle.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Excellent

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
Same old from day 1 to day 14

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Week 2 is the repeat of week 1, could of been altered for the 2 weekend.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The below stairs staff absolutely fantastic. TUI staff, Managers and ships bridge crew wouldn’t know as they never once asked how our cruise was going. It just smacked of a class devide.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The Celebration is 34 years old and it’s not hidden but it is about time this bygone era of cruising is scrapped for the more luxurious cruises that are offered by TUI competitors.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
You sleep, shower and change in it.

Ship tip

See the waiters and stewards for info as no one else knows what’s happening, especially reception.

Ports of call

La Romana, Dominican Republic

1 out of 5
As we found out later, the cheaper option to dock at.

Tortola, British Virgin Islands

5 out of 5
Getting there but it will take time.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

5 out of 5
Love this place but a shame the cheaper dock was chosen and buses were used for transfer.

Roseau, Dominica Did not visit port

Programme change due to Irma

Bridgetown, Barbados

3 out of 5
Barbados was odd as the port is out of Kingston and easily a 20 minute walk to town but there is a beach close by and the locals are friendly enough so its also safe to travel independently.

Fort-De-France, Martinique

3 out of 5
Martinique is very similar to the back streets of Paris, tight streets with small pavements and busy traffic males it a bit tricky to get about, the promenade is quite stunning and reports from friends liked the island outside of the main town, our problem was the locals, like the french are very arrogant and ignorant.

Castries, St. Lucia

3 out of 5
As we found out later, the cheaper option to dock at.

St. John's, Antigua

4 out of 5

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

5 out of 5
St Maarten is open for business and yes you can see the damage that Irma caused but if the businesses are able to open they are and the rest of the island is ok, St Maarten is better positioned financially than others so they should be back to full strength in no time at all.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Misleading or out of date info made it confusing at the airport.

SERVANTS... don't you mean waiters or staff .. water is available at all times for free, just not bottles and I totally understand why !

Sounds like a disappointing cruise. Can you tell us more about St. Maarten and how it looks after the restoration is coming along?

If we don't get an answer, I will be there Jan. 23rd.  I am anxious to see how they are progressing, myself.

I wish you'd give more information about Barbados and Matinique, because we have a cruise scheduled for 2019 that includes those ports. In your opinion, are there any redeeming qualities to either of these ports?

We were on the same cruise, I concur the ship is tired, they are cutting corners everywhere from lower cost container ports to charging for water on the premium package! I too found the restaurant and cabin servants too be better than most officers I heard one couple left ship after 1 week, they were so disappointed with the ship
