Would never take cruise with royal Caribbean any more. Waste of money for bad services, terrible food and stupid company. Royal Caribbean always advertise it has the largest ship in the world, but tbh, the company does not have ability and resource to operate the large ship well. Guests spend tons of time waiting for elevator, pool and food, plus the quality is bad. I think the reason why they complicated lots of logistic stuff is that they wanna you to choose their excursions.
Embarkation
1 out of 5
… it’s a mess. Embarked from Rome, and there is no sign out side the train station at all except the 6 euro bus to the port. We were told there is a free shuttle bus to cruise terminal. It takes us an hour to figure out the bus stop location and wait for the bus. When we call the royal caribbean Rome port emergency contact, and no one picked up the phone.
Anyways, please plan ahead and know where to go if you embark from Rome.

Food and Dining
1 out of 5
I could not believe it….
The dining room is always packed, even if you have reservation( difficult to get), you have to wait outside the dining room.
The waiting staff are very rude and unhappy. The servers are horrible….. they give me funny face when I order my food. Ridiculous.
The food is gross ..salty and oily. All cheap food…. I do spot lots of people waiting for hot water to cook their instant noodles.
The menu said it is aged prime beef, but actually it is a thick slice of roast beef.
The fruits and salad are exact same everyday. They only provide lettuce as salad.
Fruits are pineapple, cantaloupe and watermelon. We saw banana for once (No any other fruits)
We did not enjoy any of the food.
Onboard Activities

Well…the adult only areas are full of kids and no one really wanna manage this.
Entertainment

We did go to all shows and performances. The performers did great job on all! They are amazing!!!!
However, please expect rude royal Caribbean stuff to tell you.. “you cannot seat here cuz you are not suite guests”. They prefer leave the seats empty for suite guests rather than give them to other guests
Service and Staff

Ship tip
If you do not have status or suite guest, lower your expectation.
Port itself is so beautiful!
Beware, the royal Caribbean said there is no free transportation to the city center, and only option is to catch up 20 euro/person bus to the city. This is not true. (See picture below about the misleading information). Actually, there is a free shuttle bus if you walk around 10 mins. The shuttle bus staff is super friendly and helpful! Do not waste your money on their 20 euro bus.
Sorry that your cruise didn’t live up to your expectations. Perhaps you should have researched the itinerary and ports more thoroughly. For instance, most everyone knows that embarkation from Rome doesn’t mean Rome proper but Civi which is at least an hour and a half away and you should have researched all transportation options. Obviously those that pay extra for suites will have better options for seating. Don’t blame RC for that. If you want those seats, pay for a suite or how about just be grateful you’re on a cruise, grab a seat and watch the show. As far as food quality, I personally think a lot of people aren’t happy unless they are complaining. I’m sure families who are struggling to put food on their tables would have been happy with that canned fruit. BTW, the pics of the food you posted look delicious.
In regards to the seating at the show it’s the same with airlines if you don’t pay for the upgrade you can’t sit in those seats. If they let everyone use it no one would upgrade. That’s the way the world is now if you want extra service you have to pay for the upgrade.
Forget to mention: the daily fruit in the dining room are usually canned and you can taste it.
Ship quality started to worn down by the time. You can tell by walking around the ship.
Pool tower policy is stingy to say the least. We returned the towel before get off the ship and were still charged towel fee. Had to go wait in line to ask the guest service to cancel it.
