Review summary

We would do another cruise on this amazing ship in a heartbeat! Beautiful ship and so much to do! It’s an active cruise so if we wanted pure relaxation we would choose something else, but this was exactly what we we’re hoping for and we couldn’t be happier with this vacation.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We had one of the first boarding times of 10:30 am. We were there on time and it literally took us 10 min and we were on the ship. It was amazingly fast and took a lot of stress off of us.

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We had the ultimate dining package, which to us is the best way to go. We can eat at any of the specialty dining including lunch on sea days. We don’t get the drink package, but with specialty dining, you get a discount on bottles of wine which was so much less expensive than getting the drink package and we enjoyed trying out new wines. We are not dining room people and only had breakfast in the buffet once…it was fine. But where Royal shines is the specialty dining! Jaime’s Italian was my most favorite and we also loved Izumi. A new venue we fell in love with was Hooked seafood which shocked us how good it was! At Hooked I loved the oysters and the drunken mussels…oh my word…amazing! We didn’t donWonderland as we have had that on other ships. But we tried all the rest and they were all wonderful! If I could encourage anything for this cruise it would be to get the ultimate dining package.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
So much to do on this ship! We tried the zip line and it was so fun and the staff was so reassuring and kind. We also loved the dry slide, which we went on a couple times. It’s incredibly fast and we enjoyed sitting outside at Johnnie Rockets watching (and hearing) people come down the slide. We watched the flow rider but didn’t try it for ourselves and unfortunately we missed doing the ice skating and putt putt golf because we just ran out of time. We did some trivia for the first time and loved it so that’s something we will do more of on the next cruise. We loved the pools but the chair hogs were abundant. I had a very sweet pool attendant go and bring me a lounge chair because all of them had towels on them but no people. (Don’t be chair hogs people! It’s rude and put staff in a tough spot) I ended up getting up early as soon as the pools opened to get some good swimming in early before people got in the pool to just stand around and make people soup. As long as we timed it right it worked out great.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We have been on Ovation of the seas and the shows were pretty terrible so we weren’t expecting much from this cruise. But holy frijoles Batman! The shows blew us out of the water on this ship. First night was Hairspray, which I’ve seen the movie so many times we almost didn’t go to the show. But trust me when I say , this was Broadway quality and the singers were freaking amazing!! Even my husband was blown away by the show and the amazing talent they had!! Bravo to that cast!! We also saw both ice shows and, although 1977 was my favorite, they were both amazing. We saw a comedian show and to be honest wee disappointed, but that was because it probably just wasn’t our taste in comedy. The show Hero was very much like a Cirque show…and it was also amazing and I couldn’t believe they did this on a ship! Royal blew us away with the entertainment on this ship.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
We had amazing service and the staff were all wonderful. It did bother me that the guests didn’t have to wear masks but all the staff did. They were so sweet knowing it was our anniversary and sang songs to us which was very sweet. We loved the Starbucks on board and I got my iced green tea each day and they remembered our names and made us feel like they were happy to see us.

Ship Quality

This was our first time on an Oasis class ship and we LOVED IT!! it only felt crowded on the pool deck and after shows let out. There were times we were the only ones in certain areas. The cabin was well laid out with plenty of storage and the bed and bedding were perfectly comfortable! The bathroom was fine. We saw staff constantly cleaning and we felt comfortable and safe.

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

5 out of 5
This was our first time to Coco Cay and we stayed at the pool all day and loved it! The food wasn’t to my liking as it was all hot dogs and hamburgers…but my husband loved it.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

We went to Maho beach and it was a blast!

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

Love St Thomas!! We did the sky ride this time and it was so fun!

Miami, Florida

Miami is ok but we didn’t care for Miami Beach as it was just packed with people.

Disembarkation

We had an excursion and they said we would meet after getting our luggage. However, there was no direction once we got our luggage to where our bus would be. We lucked out and kind of stumbled upon it but it was stressful and could be done much better.
