Review summary

This was a great getaway with my daughter. We enjoyed every minute. I would strongly recommend this cruise.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
my 4th cruise and best embarkation of all.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Dining room was slow the first night, but things were much better after that. We used the buffet more often and it was terrific. Food was great in both places!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
There was plenty to do, but I’m a senior so did not avail myself of rock walls, etc. the pool area was wonderful though!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We saw ventriloquist Ronn Lucas, a longtime favorite of ours. He was great!

Children's Programs

I’m 74 and was not traveling with children.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room was well-tended and the waiters were great. How do these people manage to remember names and preferences? That astounds me!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
It seemed someone was always in the background cleaning. Everything was truly shipshape!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The room was a nice size and well laid out. We had plenty of room to move about. The balcony overlooked the park, so in the evenings we were treated to a guitar player (but only till 9). It was nice having the outdoors at hand. We were one deck below the pool deck so there was activity also, but again that stopped at a reasonable hour.

Ship tip

Bring your appetite! The food was great!

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

3 out of 5
We didn’t really see much of Miami on either end. We flew in on Friday night and went to the pier in the morning. On return, we went directly from the pier to the airport.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

3 out of 5
The whole area is quite depressed and I was disappointed in our excursion. When we originally signed up, we were supposed to shop at a Mayan ruin. However, all we did was visit a lagoon where we could kayak or swim. I don’t kayak and I don’t swim in water where I can’t see the bottom, particularly when I’m told there could be snakes. The lunch there was great, though, and drinks were unlimited which certainly appealed to some of the group. There was no Mayan ruin, though, so this was a bit of a disappointment to me.

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

5 out of 5
The island was beautiful and the people were so nice! We did the tour where we met sloths, monkeys and iguanas and it was wonderful. My daughter lives sloths and she said she can now die a happy woman because she got to hold Turbo. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who likes animals.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
Cozumel can be overwhelming at first because of all the shopping when you first leave the boat. Be prepared. We took the Island Roots tour, which included a lovely drive around the island. We visited a Mayan Bee Sanctuary where we learned about this specific type of bee and tasted their honey. We also learned about cacao and tasted chocolate, and we did a tequila tasting. It was a really good day.

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

4 out of 5
This is aimed more at younger folks than me. There’s a huge water park and lots of other activities. We tried the snorkeling, but the water was a bit murky and I never really saw any fish.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Everything was well organized and quite simple.
