Review summary

This was the greatly anticipated 50th Birthday/ President cruise, we got to see Hall & Oates live being Diamond Plus. There was a gift in the room every night...really nice stuff! The free drinks flowed for more than the first formal night!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Main dining room and Windjammer had the standard food selections..not great but definitely not bad. I always love RCCL’s bread...the best! This is my personal opinion, I found the desserts to look more appetizing than they actually tasted, I might be a little biased because I worked in that line of business. Chops Grille: My lamb chops were significantly smaller ( more like lollipops) than other times I have had them. This was my second time on this ship. The meal and ambience were still greatly enjoyed. Wonderland is always a favorite little treat! However I did not eat any seafood on the menu that night. The Mad Hatter, Inshan, we have known for years now from Chefs table...he is the best Each time we go there is always something just a little different to keep me coming back. Hooked seafood...I really enjoyed but...I had an allergic reaction I believe from the oysters Rockefeller. I broke out in hives really bad. I can normally eat any seafood I want but something happened here and I don’t know why. It could have even been a spice that was used, it was even stated that maybe the oysters were from waters my system couldn’t handle...all in all I thoroughly enjoyed the meal..not what happened to me later.

Service and Staff

My room attendant was really cold and unfriendly, he kept the room clean, so I did still tip him above the required amount. Sylvia and Lucy in the dining room were very friendly and approachable, they aimed to please and did a great job with some of my requests after I had had my allergic reaction with other foods.

Cabin / Stateroom

This is a virtual balcony cabin. Our first time in one. It wasn’t bad...I missed a real balcony still, however it was fun to look out and not be seen by anyone on the outside especially if you were dressing in front of it! Sometimes I would forget and think I’m gonna step out on the balcony and then...oh yeah I can’t! The other concern we had was that usually my husband puts his dive gear on the balcony to dry after a dive...not happening here, in the shower it went, ugh.

Ship tip

Know that even though there are over (6000) passengers you can still find a quiet place and one week may not be enough time to do all you wish to do.
