Review summary

This really was a great cruise. I would highly recommend it to anyone. No trip is ever perfect, but despite the few very minor hiccups ( at no fault of the cruise line) it came pretty close. I had more fun than I have had in a long time. Truly worth every penny!

Embarkation

The embarkation experience was super simple and easy! Honestly this is the 4th cruise I have been on, but the first one with Royal Caribbean. I couldn’t believe how quick and easy the process was this time.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We went to 2 of the specialty restaurants. Wonderland and Chops. Both were VERY good. My favorite however was Wonderland. The food was so creative and very tasty! And the atmosphere was top notch. The Mad Hatter was such a cool host and played the character perfectly! It felt like we were really in a different world! Even when we came across the crew member that played the mad hatter when he wasn’t at Wonderland he was so friendly and a real treat to meet. In the main dinning room, our waiter and the assistant waiter were also very attentive and treated us so good. The food on the ship was really very good in both the dinning room and in the buffet. And I was surprised by the variety of food available in the buffet. I loved it!

Onboard Activities

I enjoyed using the jogging track in the mornings. Since I knew I was eating WAY too much it helped me minimize the damage 😆!

Entertainment

All I can say is WOW! The shows were broadway quality! I was most impressed with Hiro and 1977. How these actors were able to do the ice skating and diving with the boat moving really impressed me.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Anthony was the best room steward! He ALWAYS had a smile on his face. Even though we somehow managed to pop up back at the room right when he was cleaning it. He never seemed irritated, but I always felt bad for disrupting him. Honestly don’t know how we did that so often.

Ship Quality

The ship was amazing! I highly recommend everyone sail on symphony of the seas at least once! There was so much to see and do! Even though we were on it for a whole week I still don’t think we seen everything or did everything there was to do! And the ship was very clean. The crew was very good at cleaning up after the few jerks that felt it was ok to leave their glasses and trash anywhere the wanted. Even when I did see glasses sitting around (sometimes in odd places, because some of the other vacationers had no manners!) there was always a crew member right there to clean it up quickly.

Cabin / Stateroom

Ok so this is the first time I have ever splurged for a room with a balcony. And seriously, I don’t think I will ever go back! It was sooo nice to have the privacy and enjoy our very own view of the ocean. I am the type of person that likes to be around other people, but also likes to have quiet time alone. And the balcony gave me a beautiful place to get away from the crowds. Also we all know that cruise ship bathrooms are notoriously tiny. And even though it was still small, the layout made it feel bigger and more functional.

Ship tip

My advice is if you choose Symphony is the Seas, then take full advantage! There is so many fun and exciting things to do! But not to worry, if you are wanting a slow relaxing vacation, then this ship is perfect for you too. There are several places you can go and get away from it all. Seriously you can not go wrong with this ship!

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

We did not do an excursion, since this was were the cruise started and ended. Miami has never been my favorite place, so we didn’t do much there.

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

This port was beautiful! We did the Gumbalimba park. It was such a cool experience. You get to hold gorgeous macaw parrots. They were so mellow! I even held one like a baby! It was so sweet! Then we went to see the monkeys. They were so lively and fun! They are such curious creatures, and it was awesome to be able to interact with them! We had a blast!

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

It was a very nice port. We didn’t do an excursion, we just did some shopping. But the shopping was very good!

Cozumel, Mexico

This also was a nice port. Again we did some shopping and then went to Bubba Gump’s for drinks. Our waiter was super cool and even treated us to a free margarita! Ya can’t beat that!! And right next to Bubba’s is access to go swimming. The water was really clear and beautiful. Very nice!

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

This island was really nice. One thing I was really impressed with was that there were plenty of lounge chairs. You didn’t have to fight to find one, which was much appreciated. The water was beautiful, but the visibility wasn’t the best right off the beach. I’m guessing it was because of the number of people in the water, stirring the sand up. Plus a storm had went through, which probably didn't help matters.

Disembarkation

The disembarkation process was super easy. We had no problems with customs and anything. It went really smooth. The only negative I have is after getting trough customs and going out into the port, it was CRAZY busy. Seriously, Miami would find a better system for traffic flow into the ports. We had to wait an hour in the heat for our bus to reach us to take us to the parking garage. The problem is that the road goes from 6 lanes to 3 lanes right there at the Symphany’s port. When there are 6000 passengers disembarking it makes for quite a jam!
