This was my second time to cruise Alaska with Princess and my Girlfriend's first time. Two other couples traveled with us. Everyone thought it was very enjoyable and we may do it again.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Absolutely flawless. We took the hotel shuttle to the ship and within five minutes were onboard enjoying a drink on our balcony.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
We opted for set dining and enjoyed every night's selections. Wait staff was very good and did everything in their power to make each night a pleasant experience. No Speciality restaurants were used on this cruise and very limited buffet visits.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Fitness center was never busy and the equipment was in excellent condition!
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Brent and Sarah Magic Show was not worth the time to watch... Cheap tricks one could learn in a few minute's visit to a magic shop. Two Stars at best!
Leandro Abdallah Piano Classics - Not a very good piano player - substituted volume for quality. We did not bother going after the first time - One Star and I am being Charitable!
Matt Baxter Guitar - Four Stars.
Steve Caouette Comedy Show -- Very Good - Five Stars.
Brian Johnson Piano/Vocal -- Very Good - We saw him every chance we had - Five Stars.
Consonance Piano/Violin -- Excellent and very enjoyable - I would pay money for their entertainment - Five Stars Plus!
Children's Programs
No Children
Service and Staff

Ship Captain Michele Tuvo was excellent. We saw him in a variety of places onboard - always stopping to greet passengers - asking how they were enjoying the cruise. Many of the Crew mentioned him as being the best Captain they had ever served under. I have made 22 Princess Cruises and this is the first time I can recall a Ship Captain's name after the cruise!
Everyone onboard went the extra step to make the cruise an enjoyable experience!
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Star is one of my favorite ships -- Size is excellent and layout is very good. We never experienced any problems with cleanliness or maintenance.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Mini-Suite. Excellent comfort, size, and cleanliness. Room Stewart (Alan) was very attentive to our needs.
Ship tip
Always get a balcony cabin and enjoy the view and peacefulness from your private balcony.
We did the Crabfest and Lumberjack Show. Crabfest was excellent - both in food quality and entertainment quality. The ladies serving the crab made sure that we did not go away hungry! Lumberjack show was also excellent and very entertaining and educational.
Excursions were the Hatchery and Mendenhall Glacier and Salmon Bake. Hatchery was a disappointment. Nothing noteworthy to see or do. At the Glacier we walked a quarter mile to a large waterfall - beautiful scenery! Salmon bake was enjoyable - food was good and the onsight band was very good.
I was on the Ruby Princess June 2018 with my dad. Going on Star Princess August 2019 with my boyfriend. Love Alaska! Love Princess!! Balcony is a must. :)
