Great cruise if you speak Chinese by mickb263

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Spectrum of the Seas / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

Great ship, great crew. The food and activities are geared to Chinese clientele. So, if you are an English speaking westerner, I would not recommend this trip.

We had a Fantastic Spiceroute cruise on Spectrum of the Seas from Dubai to Singapore. This was our 17th Royal Caribbean ship and was one of our best experience

Right where do I start?... by superadz

Sail date: /
Ship: Spectrum of the Seas

Right where do I start? First some positives. Great room, Gordon is a brilliant cruise director, some excellent food (wonderland, sichaun red and the chefs table in particular were excellent. Jamie's and izumi below average) staff were great virtually without exception, the music hall and 270 lounge are great venues, solarium and indoor pool are very good. Now time for some negatives. on the whole I feel the ship is very poorly laid out, especially when it comes to outside space and the placement of bars, there are hardly any places to enjoy a view whilst having a drink yet guest services has a beautiful outside view. Secondly the entertainment was so poor as to be almost shambolic, the headliner acts were just Britains got talent semi finalist level acts (generally 5 mins of entertainment crammed into an hour) the house band (the Royal swedes) are very good but to expect people to watch them for 4 hours a night virtually every night is a bit much on one occasion they played over 7 hours throughout the day. In summary I was disappointed, it seems like a opportunity missed and royal Caribbean have ended up with a OK ship with a big casino rather than a excellent ship that it could have been. One further point, RCI really have to give up on the bionic bar. it takes up too much space for a item people only ever use on day 1, sure it looks great but it was empty virtually the entire cruise.

Lovely Suez transit by Rulocal

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Spectrum of the Seas / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

My overall impression of the Spectrum, is that it is what it is, and out of 5 I would rate it a 4. But we probably won't see it in Europe or the US any time soon.

Nice way to see some of of Southeast Asia by SeanJon

The ship has a lot options, however limited with bars and other amenities that you would expect on a cruise.

Now that COVID is over, we can start cruising again by guapogecko

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Spectrum of the Seas

I think all Royal Caribbean cruises are great. I just love cruising. If you think about it, dollar for dollar, it is actually a good deal. I know if I take my wife and daughter to a classy hotel, enjoy swimming in the pool, playing bumper cars, the rock climbing wall, and all the other activities that are free on the ship, and have a really good breakfast, lunch, and take them to a high class restaurant for dinner, and then go to a first class show, I would probably spend more money per day that it costs me to go on the cruise.

Robbed me, cursed at me by theyRobbedMe

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Spectrum of the Seas

I sailed with RC once before and it was okay. On the 2nd sail, I lost 10000 dollars because they lied that they would do visas on arrival. I knew I had to do visa. I called in to check about payment and verification of booking and they told me they could do visas for us, so I was thrilled and didn’t do visa on my own. We got to the boarding site on time but got told they wouldn’t do visa for us. They wouldn’t refund either even though that was their fault. I called in to complain but they wouldn’t even reason and they cursed at me on phone. What’s worse is that was our planned honeymoon trip. We saved up for 2 years for this and were dearly looking forward to sailing on this trip. Never sailing with them ever again. We lost money and our honeymoon was ruined for life

Part 2 of our cruise by fletch60

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Spectrum of the Seas

This part of the cruise was an improvement in service on the ship from the 1st leg. If i was to come back to this area, it wouldn't be on this ship. Its purely designed for this market and unlike other ships, it will stay in this region.

An interesting cruise. by fletch60

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

For me Royal Caribbean have lower their standards. We got to see parts of the world that we tried to do in February 2020, if i went back it would be with another cruise line

Wonderful short cruise by GregTan

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Spectrum of the Seas

In general very good experience. The only issue is the timing that was close to Lunar New Year so most of the passengger were family who were celebrating that festive with children, you can imagine everywhere became so noisy.
