Review summary

Other than Cherbourg being closed because it was a Sunday, if this had been our first cruise, most of my criticisms would not have been as apparent. Check the itinerary to make sure port shops and activities are open before you book.

Embarkation

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The Ciello dinning room wait staff (Victor) was 100%. The quality of the beef and Lobster has gone down. The buffet was on par. Remember, you don't know where the hands of the person before you using the tongs has been.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Cruise director missed the mark as far as activities for the passenger demographic. No classical music to speak of. Much of the activities didn't start until 9pm and for a crowd that was very senior, it was bad planning.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
Theater production costuming was impressive, but the acting and singing left me wanting. The comedian was past his prime.

Children's Programs

no children

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
cabin attendant was excellent. Lotus spa tried to scam me on pricing.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
I saw cleaning going on non-stop.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Excellent accessible cabin. One major issue. No electrical on bed side of cabin. So an extension cord needed to be draped across the floor. Dangerous trip hazard.

Ship tip

take your own antigen test before boarding. use gloves at the buffet.

Ports of call

Southampton (London), England

3 out of 5
no much to see. 2+ hours from London.

Cherbourg, France

1 out of 5
Visited on Sunday. EVERYTHING CLOSED. Shame on you Princess. Shame, shame, shame.

Lisbon, Portugal

3 out of 5
Port is far away from the city center.

Ponta Delgada, Azores

5 out of 5
Best part of the trip!

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

2 out of 5
nothing to see.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Ship was unaware of the Princess pre-arranged prepaid shuttle.

I was on this same cruise and at Cherbourg, we went to Mont St Michel as did many other bus loads of pax. Very much ‘open’ …Wonderful excursion! The Princess theater was filled with other excursion participants. Shame???

Cruising is not the same as it was prior to Covid. You have to lower your expectations from previous experiences or you will always be disappointed now. Were scenic tours / excursions not operating on Sunday?
