Exceptional Antarctica Expedition on Silverseas by tmpmeyer

Sal, from United, worked with us to book an exceptional trip to Antarctica. This was our 7th Continent and 95th "country". We cruised with 197 other guests through the pristine waters of Antarctica. Each day brought new surprises to our senses. The sights, the food, the expeditions, and the other travelers made this our favorite voyage yet.

We felt we had very little from the naturalists on board, other than driving the zodiacs. We expected more presentations and more time spent with guests. Our expedition leader was not really interested in the guests expectations, he was a disappointment.

Uplifting different experience by clbd

This was an EXPEDITION cruise, different than those we had engaged in previously. This was fun, made more so by the exceptional expedition staff. They were friendly and interactive with the passengers during the evening hours after excursions were completed. They were extremely helpful to passengers during boarding and exiting the zodiacs (these were used in place of the tenders to ferry passengers between the ship and the port locations.), always pleasant. Their lectures on the upcoming excursion locales - history, geography and wildlife sightings were helpful in preparing you for what was coming.

Take advantage of all of the shore / Zodiak trips. We loved doing the kayaking, and the polar plunge.

Know that you will be delayed, cancelled, subject to a host of variables that Silversea does not fully disclose. One couple was on their third ATTEMPT to get on the cruise after 2 aborts.
