AA was awful in handling a broken seat. The entire experience, ship, staff, food was deteriorated from the last time we used Regent.

Review summary

In short, Regent overall experience has deteriorated sine the last cruise and ship we were on. We have taken Crystal, with a far better ship and level of onboard facilities, trained and caring staff and quality of dining. Having also cruised on Oceania, supposedly a tier down from Regent, the overall experience was about the same, at a lower cost. Ninety-Five percent of passengers were in lower coast cabins than a Seven seas Suite, yet we couldn't get a decent seat in Compass Rose or any other recognition throughout the ship as a premier level passenger. The value for the premium prices is not there.

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Compass rose was average. Wait staff were rushed and not very personable.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Fitness instructor was 5 min. late for a class. Show entertainment was 2nd tier calibre.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Except for the butler (excellent) waiters seemed rushed, more concerned with getting the food on the table than the guests enjoying the dining experience. Compass rose was overfilled, too many tables jammed in, next to wait and dishes stations, noisy.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Voyager was not up to standards of Mariner. Our balcony was filthy and suffering from deferred maintenance. This was performed, at sea, while we occupied the room. (removing, sanding and painting of rail caps) noisy, all day vs advertised time of 15 minutes. Another intrusion on second last day to (finally) clean the deck.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Bathroom is small for a suite category. Should, at least, have two sinks.

Embarkation port. We booked our own private excursions for three days. Regent/AA had nothing to do with it.

Reading this now in Winter 2020 ... from what I learned about Regent (haven't sailed with them yet), they do not treat passengers in "lower" cabins worst than passengers in "higher" cabins. All passengers receive the same treatment. I believe Regent takes the position that since all of you are paying a premium, you deserve the same treatment regardless of what cabin you book. I suppose if one wants that special treatment, then booking on a line that does this would seem prudent, like Carnival or Disney or maybe Celebrity (which I have done - in "higher" cabins). Cheers!
