Review summary

We wanted it to be the best cruise we've ever been on given the price and fantastic reputation of Regent. Unfortunately, it did not live up to those standards. The entertainment was less impressive than other ships, the food was not as good as we've had before and the over all service was significantly less impressive than other cruises. For the price, that was a great disappointment. Having said that, it feels disrespectful to the people who were there serving us as I 100% believe they were trying to please everyone, it just didn't seem like it was well organized or the execution was lacking.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Process was well communicated in advance and followed as outlined.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
The people were all very nice and anxious to help but it seemed as though not everyone knew what was expected of them so it resulted in disorganization and sometimes long waits. The food was nicely presented but often lacked impressive flavors.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5

Entertainment

2 out of 5
Entertainment was just ok. The ships cast was very good.

Children's Programs

No children to take part of the program.

Service and Staff

2 out of 5
This is a difficult question since the staff was very friendly and wanted to be helpful but they often seemed to have too many guests to serve and it often wasn't clear who was going to help us, from our standpoint and theirs. A few standouts in dining were Jacques and King. This rating is not reflective of the attitudes of those on the service staff but on the execution which I firmly believe was out of their control.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The common areas were very well maintained. Rarely saw people sitting/enjoying those areas.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
It was a great room and very comfortable for the 3 guests we had in there. It wasn't completely clean on embarkation. I don't fault our cabin steward as he worked very hard and was extremely friendly. We were told he had many rooms to clean, I imagine as a result of fewer staff, so it was difficult for him to keep up sometimes. We often had to ask for more toiletries.

Wow! I've always wanted to take a luxury cruise but sounds like a big mistake at least right now. They must have the same issues as lower price lines. Too bad.
