Serenade of the Seas

7 Night Alaska Glacier (Seattle Roundtrip)

Sail date: September 06, 2021

Ship: Serenade of the Seas

Traveled as: Couple

Reviewed: 3 years ago

Review summary

From beginning to end we felt pampered, listened to and provided with food we desired. Only 922 passengers, but believe this will continue as numbers increase.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very smooth. Having specific arrival time and passengers held to their times kept the process moving.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
MDR was very good, arriving hot and as ordered, nightly. They provided special requests, such as Savory Bites and coffee ice cream nightly. Izumi was excellent, also.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Looked good, but did not participate.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Night with Adele was very enjoyable. Musicians around the ship were very good.

Children's Programs

No children with us.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Outstanding! We felt that we were their only passengers, even though they had many others.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
We love the Radiance class and have sailed Serenade many times so we were familiar with the layout and design. Ship was continuously kept clean. Would have given 5 stars, but furniture was a bit worn and noticed some outside rust.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Cleanliness outstanding. Comfort very good, except couch was a little worn. Size very adequate for 2.

Ship tip

Take a tour and become familiar with ship’s layout. May be a little surprised that you have Togo outside on Deck 12 to access Izumi.

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington Did not visit port

Only there for embarking and disembarking. Did not visit city.

Sitka, Alaska

5 out of 5
No excursion. Just did walk-about, exploring city. Friendly & helpful. Liked hot dog (reindeer) stand and area with benches to enjoy lunch.

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska Did not visit port

Port visit cancelled due to storm.

CRUISE ENDICOTT ARM & DAWES GLACIER

5 out of 5
Beautiful trip through Endicott Arm and had great view of glacier. Plenty of time for pictures

Juneau, Alaska

The crab lunch at Tracy’s Crab Shack was terrific! Toured on foot, on own. Time in port was not enough!

Ketchikan, Alaska

5 out of 5
Love the store, right by ship. Been there for years and had HUGH selection and had items shipped home. They eve referred us to other store that had item we wanted. We were directed to Annabel’s for lunch and it did not disappoint. Older restaurant with excellent choices, such as Crab Chowder and Barbecue Tri Tip Sandwich. Time in port was not enough!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Best EVER! Appreciated going for breakfast and then returning to room to wait for notice (on tv) of group number to depart. No crowds with luggage in halls, elevators, etc. Also, can highly recommend the luggage valet service (this one provided by Port of Seattle). Received special luggage tags and boarding passes for flight home. Put out luggage last night and next saw them at home airport. No hauling around suitcases!
