We had a really great time on this cruise. Besides some of the little setbacks, which were minor, we had an awesome honeymoon and would definitely cruise on Serenade again. We want to explore some other ships and itineraries but I’m very impressed with Royal Caribbean.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Very quick and easy. From hotel to onboard it was a little over an hour.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The food was great! The specialty restaurants were incredible, and well worth the dining pkg. The buffets had everything and if you went hungry it was your own fault!!!
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
We took advantage of some of the activities on the ship. The solarium was nice, adults only, and we were able to use the hot tub in there. The pool was always full. The fitness center was nice, I took advantage of that as I needed to do some PT exercises for my shoulder. They had tons of trivia available. We didn’t try the mini-golf out.
Entertainment
2 out of 5
We thought the stage shows weren’t very good. It didn’t seem like they wanted to spend a lot of money on them or the talent. Definitely disappointed in that. The other musicians were good around the ship.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The crew on this ship is amazing. This was my first cruise and I was impressed! Every crew member smiled and greeted me no matter where I was. All of our servers, wait staff, bartenders, and stateroom attendant were awesome!!! They were always friendly, engaging, remembered us, and we were treated excellent from the time we stepped on the boat til the time we left.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
While this ship is a little older it definitely has its dings. You can tell it was well traveled. I will say that I always saw the crew cleaning, whether it was hosing a deck, cleaning windows, emptying ashtrays, or sweeping. The design of the ship was fairly easy to get around. It didn’t take me too long to get myself adapted.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
We had a no frills inside cabin. It was much more roomy than I anticipated. And the amount of storage was impressive. We had plenty of room for the two of us and all of our stuff for the 11 day cruise including snorkel gear.
We liked Curaçao. We rented a car for the day, had a long port day. We drove all over the island sightseeing and then we did a snorkel with the stingrays and shark feed at the aquarium. That was a blast and we would recommend that to everyone!!!
We loved Aruba!!! We rented a car for the day and toured the island sightseeing. We hit the beach and did some snorkeling as well. Super fun, glad we rented a car we got to see more of the island that way.
We loved Bonaire! We rented a golf cart for the day and toured the south side of the island. We stopped at the Donkey Sanctuary(We HIGHLY recommend this!!), and then drove up to 1000 Steps beach to snorkel. We finished off at Coco beach to lay out. In hindsight we would’ve rented a car, to see more and have more beach time. But we want to go back.
We did the Volcanic Mub Bath excursion through the ship and we didn’t like it at all. We felt like cattle herded through the whole excursion and through the mud bath, making it not very relaxing. They are expanding the mud bath right now(making 4 new pools to handle the crowds) which may help but we wouldn’t do the boat excursion again. We would rent a car(be aware they drive on the other side of the road here) and go off on our own. We didn’t get to see very much of the island which was disappointing.
We hired a cab with two other ladies from the ship. He toured us to a few places and then dropped us at Darkwood Bay beach for a few hours to relax. He came back and picked us up at the appointed time and dropped us at the market, right by the ship, to shop for a bit. If we did it again, we’d rent a car to see the island on our own. We had a great time at the beach and our cab driver was great, don’t get me wrong.
