Sea Princess - The Ugly Step Sister by DR3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Sea Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We were excited to be boarding the Sea Princess. That excitement was dashed when we entered our stateroom to find that our request had not been met. Two very well used twin beds met us - I repeat "very well used" beds. We had requested that the beds be put together prior to our arrival. This problem was taken care of right away by our wonderful steward, Rommel, who apologized and told us that our request was for some reason over-ruled by his supervisor. Our next disappointment was dinner. We had requested a table for two in the "any time" dining room. What we found was an early dinner assignment at a table for four. The other two people at the table where on their honeymoon - and apparently not interested in conversation (can't blame them!). The food throughout the cruise (with the exception of the steak house which had an additional cover charge associated with it) we found to be very bland and uncreative. The "fancy" desserts, for which cruise ships are famous, were no better than what you can get at your local grocery store. The meals was consistently overcooked and left tastless and without flair. Extremely disappointing. Drinks of the day were something we looked forward to. It's always fun to try new things. There was no "deal" in trying the recommended beverages as their price was no different than any other drink at any other bar on the ship. It took some of the fun out of the experience. There were mechanical issues that delayed our arrival into St. Maarten. We cannot hold the Line responsible for a problem of this nature but it did shorten our time on the island. Further upon leaving St. Maarten another mechanical problem came about and left the ship with the ability to use only 3 of its 4 engines. Due to this problem we were told we could not go to Princess Cays and would spend 2 days at sea as we made our way to Florida. We were given a $50 per person credit to our account as a gesture of good will. Since were were missing on our last day on the Cays, we anticipated there would be some special events or something to entertain us on our last day. NOT the case. It left us with a bad taste and a disappointing end to a disappointing week. Our previous cruising experiences with smaller lines far exceed the Princess line. It was very clear that American travelers were not welcomed to this primarily British populated cruise. Of the 2007 travelers on this ship only 5% were Americans. It was not an easy thing to find a friendly face.

The way to see the islands by DebiM

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Sea Princess / Destination: Caribbean

Sailed on the Sea Princess and it was our best cruise yet. Anytime dining made getting to dinner less of a rush and we requested the same table each night and had a waiter that made it a pleasure. We were surprised to find that our cabin had been changed and no one notified us. Also that the ship is the only one in their line that is completly British and there were only 67 Americans, which turned out fine.

First time cruise by JohnG32

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Sea Princess / Destination: Caribbean

We sailed on the Sea Princess. The overall condition of the ship was excellent. There were four main dining areas with smaller eating area spread out around the various decks. As we are not swimmers or sunbathers we didn't use the pool at all. In the evening we spend our time in one of the 4 main excellent bars or the casino. Each bar had nightly entertaiment, which overall was pretty good. The big complaint we have was with the seating abreakfast. As there was only two of the diningareas open for breakfast, if was hard if not impossible to find a place to sit. A couple of times we had to take our food to our stateroom to eat. We did not have that problem for lunc or dinner as there we more dining areas open.

Over all enjoyable. by WilliamW6

Somewhat disappointed with the appointments and ambience of "Sea Princess" compared to other ships we have sailed on. Low ceiling dining rooms felt somewhat claustrophobic. Theatre design also 'confining'. Two tier design on newer ships preferred by us. In general the "Sea Princess" portrays the impression of an older ship modified from time to time.

Fantastic cruise by Bctraveller

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Sea Princess / Destination: Caribbean

The ship was reasonably well layed out with the following exceptions - The a cabins are about 2 feet too narrow - the bathrooms are too small as a result you have to open the door to dry yourself. The over all appearance of the ship was very well presented. A Balcony could alleviate seating problems in the theaters. The overall cruise was a memory at every port and we met some wonderful people from all over the world.

Ship is in need of refurbishment as it feels dated but love the size of it except for buffet area too small of choices.

Great cruise but we were about 40 years early. by CWG77

We found we were about 40 years too early but enjoyed it. The average ago on the ship would have been 80 something but you can make your own fun.

Was one of the best things I’ve ever done. Was a little hesitant about it but once got going I loved it. Felt so comfortable and relaxed and we went as a family group and we all had such a great time. Would recommend it to anyone.

Great time aboard the Sea Princess by rosalynmartin

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Sea Princess

We had a great time on Princess and will definitely be back. The sea Princess was a small and intimate ship so we were able to have a great time with a lot of the same people but it was also big enough that we were still meeting new people on the last night.
