We found we were about 40 years too early but enjoyed it. The average ago on the ship would have been 80 something but you can make your own fun.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Embarkation was slow, but we expected that with 2000 people trying to get on.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Food in the horizon court was good but seating was hard to come by at times. Drinks, while a little costly were good and the service outstanding!
We didn’t go to the restaurants as we didn’t want to dress up but all reports were good.
Onboard Activities
1 out of 5
Everything on the ship was geared towards an older crowd. We were told by several guests that this is normal on princess cruises of over 10 days.
The crowd on the ship were definitely an older crowd so my husband and I in our late 30s early 40s felt a little out of place and were left with little to do other than movies in our room.
* tip: movies on a USB stick for the TV in the room.
Entertainment
1 out of 5
As previously said, activities and entertainment perfect for an older crowd.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Always friendly and helpful.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Ship is getting old but is in great condition.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Cabin was bigger then expected. Loved being at the front of the ship. Balcony was bigger then expected and we used it every day. Loved sleeping with the door open listening to the ocean.
Ship tip
1) cruises over 10 days are mostly people 60+ activities will reflect this. 2) you can buy wine on port and pay $15 per bottle corkage, can work out much cheaper then buying on board the ship.
Great port to get out and look around.
The Te Papa museum is a must do. Simply catch the shuttle into the city and walk. It’s an easy walk.
The cable car is great as well. We paid $9 each for the return trip,
We’re travelling on Sea Princess in April to Hawaii for 31 days, we’re in our 50’s and we were thinking we’d be the youngsters, thanks for confirming our thoughts. thanks also for the advice on the wine, we looked at the wine list prices and will be taking several bottles with us.
