Review summary

I suppose I was expecting more from Princess. I had been on 6 other cruises this year and greatly enjoyed. Having paid a good deal more for this, I expected top end. I was disappointed by entertainment and other activities. Also the food was not as good as other ships I have been on. Overall did not seem value for money. That said, I would go again, but probably downgrade to standard cabin.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Pretty quick embarkation, not the clearest of directions.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Not impressed by the buffet, but the specialised dining was good as was the club dining.

Sabatini's

5 out of 5

Staff very attentive and able to get what ever you want. Good choice of food. Not always the quickest service.

Sante Fe Dining Room

5 out of 5

Service with a smile and nothing too much. Not the largest of menu's but was reasonable quality.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Activities seemed poorly arranged. A lot left to chance and for passengers to arrange, so not much happened.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Hard to get into when we did it was average for the performances I have seen on other ships.

Princess Theater

3 out of 5

Did not seem to have room enough to accommodate those wishing to attend. Seats were not the most comfortable. Performances average.

The Library

1 out of 5

Very small area, whilst seats were there, they could not easily be used. Was more of a waiting area of future cruise or member services, which shared the area.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
In club dining, rooms stewards the service was excellent, nothing to much.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The ship was well maintained but missed some critical areas such as a reasonable size library, which you could sit/study in, a card or games room - which was made up in a non-used dining area. The size of areas picked for entertainment seemed undersized so that they were overcrowded and therefore could not be enjoyed / attended.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
A good size with plenty of room for up to 4, separate bedroom and lounge and a very large balcony - which we did not use much. There was a issue with one of the TV's, which took longer than it should (8 days) to fix.

Ship tip

Use club dining if you can.

Ports of call

Southampton (London), England Did not visit port

Home port.

Zeebrugge (Bruges), Belgium

4 out of 5
Private walk/tour around.

Copenhagen, Denmark

5 out of 5
Took a nice walk around, private taxi and trip on the river - great views.

Stockholm, Sweden

4 out of 5
Cheap open top bus at 10E only, good value.

Tallinn, Estonia

4 out of 5
A short walk around and enjoyed some local cuisine.

St. Petersburg, Russian Federation

5 out of 5
Hired a mini van with driver and guide. Excellent over 2 days. Saw everything we wanted to and missed the queues. Highly recommended. You can have up to 16 in the van for $900 which is far cheaper than a visa would cost you.

Helsinki, Finland

3 out of 5
Just a walk around and taxi into town.

Gdansk (Danzig), Poland

2 out of 5
Docked at Gdnya which was 20Km away. Not very interested to see anything so just had a good brisk walk, saw some nice ships and the market.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Quick and efficient.
