Review summary

This was our first cruise and it was fantastic! We went expecting to relax but ended up making some friends for life on the first day and enjoying the bars and karaoke. We loved that there was so much to do on board and the absolutely fantastic service! It wasn't perfect but it was a fantastic holiday/vacation and we can't wait to cruise again!

Embarkation

4 out of 5
San Francisco Terminal was quite chaotic and we were given incorrect information by staff regarding disabled passengers. However, the Princess side of things was very smooth (although busy). Our bags and stateroom were ready much earlier than expected!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
As picky eaters, we were pleased with the variety of options in all the restaurants and buffet. The quality varied between average to excellent depending on what you ordered. The staff were so great that we enjoyed our meals regardless of whether the food was great or just okay. Sabatini's was surprisingly good and I would recommend!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We really enjoyed the onboard quizzes and trivia sessions. We tried one game activity but we didn't return as some passengers really struggled with the rules. The entertainment team did a great job at remaining upbeat and providing fun activities! We loved the spa treatments but beware of the upselling - it's just as intense as you've heard...

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We only attended two of the main stage shows: a magician/comedian and a Princess song-and-dance theatre production. Both were good quality, although the latter might not have been particularly aimed at us (two friends in our thirties).

Children's Programs

No children!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Almost all the staff were absolutely excellent and they are what meant our first cruise was truly special! Remembering our preferences and favourites, quick service, friendly and funny personalities - we couldn't ask for more.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship couldn't be cleaner and was spotless for our entire trip!

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
We were lucky enough to be upgraded from an inside cabin, so we were delighted about our room from the start! Our stateroom attendant came daily to keep the cabin spotless. The window is really big and although billed as an obstructed view, we couldn't see a single problem with it. The views were incredible!

Ship tip

Download the app before you get on - but don't expect it to fully work! Use the screens near the elevators to help you. Adagio (bar next to Sabatini's) is a really beautiful spot with great staff but we never saw it busy.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
There was some confusion as we initially thought we would be back several hours late but woke up to have already arrived! Despite this, staff on both Princess and in San Francisco Terminal were ready and efficient.
