Review summary

Princess offers a great cruise and we have always had a great time.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
No one moves people as well as Princess. The line moves quickly and these people know what they are doing.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The main dining room was consistently inconsistent - even with the same meal at the same table. One was cooked to perfection, the one beside it, cold or overdone. This was for the whole cruise. We ate at one specialty restaurant and it was very good. Best food was found in the buffet - or in Mexico. New cooks maybe?

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We went to a show, played in the casino quite a bit (Yay - no smokers) sunned on deck. We enjoyed the NYE pool party, the game shows, the art gallery. So many things to do.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Ocean Boulevard can play anything. We found ourselves following them around the ship because they were always good. The DJ was just OK - in fact, we enjoyed the back-up DJ more. The Voice of the Ocean found six fantastic guests that could sing. Overall, entertainment was very good.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Room service - the room steward - everyone at the bars and who brought us coffee and drinks were excellent.

Ship tip

Be wary of the Lotus Spa. They are overpriced and hard sell EVERYTHING. Best to avoid them all together IMO.

Ports of call

San Pedro (Los Angeles), California

Transport to and from the ship.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

4 out of 5
A small port and a small town. We did not take an excursion, but instead had lunch at a fantastic restaurant in town then did some shopping. No taxi needed - walking distance from the tender port.

Mazatlan, Mexico

3 out of 5
No excursion. Took the taxi downtown for some shopping. We should have gone to the Golden Row (or whatever they called it) instead. The shops were all typical border stores with people pulling you inside. Best thing we found was a pan flute musician. He was outside across from the church. Very nice.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

4 out of 5
No excursion. We took a shuttle to the boardwalk along the bay. This was the warmest day. We had drinks on a balcony restaurant, then shopped until lunch. Best food of the trip! The taxi back to the ship tried to rip us off - fare should be $3-4 a piece, he wanted $10 each once we were at the ship.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
They move people. This was fast - no confusion. We had time to move our flight up by 3 hours. Nicely done, Princess.
