Review summary

The Ruby Princess is a beautiful ship, very caring staff, beautiful adornments and being in a suite - very nice room.  This particular cruise was only 4 days and sailed only to Ketchikan to make up time in the ships schedule.  All normal activities you would find on other Princess ships were found on this mini-cruise sans the formal night.  We sailed from beautiful Vancouver to shining Seattle, with one port in between, Ketchikan.  Being the first sailing of the year, the lines were long for boarding, but the people of Ketchikan welcomed us graciously and offered plenty of opportunities to see nature in it's finest.  Shopping was on par for other ports.  This sailing was perfect for a group of friends to go and get-away for 4 days and relax and not bring the formal gear.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
We ate in the main restaurant as not to incur specialty dining charges. Food was good, but not great like the specialty restaurants taunt....

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Either I am tainted from cruising 30+ times or I have seen better programs on other lines that were more fun than the mandatory game shows, trivia and karaoke

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The big production shows used a kind of digital staging that had me wondering how it was done. Voices and dancing were very good. The entertainers were comedians who I would rate an 8 out of 10, and they performed twice each.

Children's Programs

Service and Staff

Ship Quality

Stunning adornments and centrum

Cabin / Stateroom

First time in a suite and oh, so much room and light!

Ship tip

If you are heading to Alaska on this ship, the pool is not covered and you will most likely be cold even though the pool is heated to about 80 degrees. If bringing small children, you may want to try another line whose pool is covered.

Ports of call

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

So much to do in Canada, but if staying overnight, be sure to eat in the revolving restaurant atop the Empire Landmark Hotel on Robson.
