Based on this I won't sail with Princess again. There are many other cruise lines out there that provide better service and have better experiences. The only reason we were on Princess is we were with a group and this is the line they decided on.
Embarkation
1 out of 5
Embarkation was a nightmare, first the bus to get us to the boat didn't account for construction so it took 3 times as long as it should have. Then due to a "technical issue" it was taking over 2 hours to check anybody in and get them on board.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
The food was also disappointing. The main dining room didn't really have anything special except lobster on one of the two formal nights like I'm used to on other cruise lines. The service in the main dinning room was also slow, we had multiple nights of 2 hour meals. We even asked if we could be done in an hour to see College Fjord and our waiter said he would try....almost 2 hours later we were getting our dessert menus so we gave up and missed about half the fjord. Breakfast was the best for me when it came to the buffet options.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
It was too cold to enjoy the pool. My son and I did play basketball and mini golf although the mini golf course was pretty boring.
Entertainment
1 out of 5
The shows were terrible, we got up and left during the last one as did a lot of other people. They just weren't entertaining enough to keep your attention.
Children's Programs
5 out of 5
My son did enjoy Camp Discovery. He kept asking to go back and they did a lot more things than I expected. Every time he went he came back with some sort of craft he made while there.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Our room steward was excellent! We were the only room in our group of people to get towel animals. The other personnel were also great to work with.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
I didn't like that there was only one floor that you could get from the front to the back of the boat, without going through staterooms, in the lower levels. That didn't seem very well thoughout.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
For a balcony room it was small I felt. The bathroom was smaller than I'm used to on other cruise lines balcony's. There was a ton of hanging closet space however and the bed was excellent, probably my favorite part of the cruise.
Ship tip
If you don't want to walk through other staterooms to get from the back to the front of the ship on the lower levels you need to go to deck 7, starboard. That is the only way.
Perhaps stick with cruiselines that make you happy. Its all perspective when it comes to enjoying a cruise. If its not the cruiselone that excites you, then you will find every little thing that's wrong and complain about it. Not sure what other cruiselines you sailed on since nothing us listed, but ship layout is similar to others, but then again, as I said, if its not your "happy place cruiseline" then you won't enjoy yourself, especially after spending all that money.
