Review summary

First Ocean Medallion Cruise. It was so nice to walk up to the stateroom door with your hands full and have the door unlock. Order drinks without having to relinquish your seats. Locate your shipmates using the portals throughout the ship. Super fast internet with an "always on" upgrade. Simply fantastic ship!

Ocean Medallion really sped things up. Arrived at 10:30 AM and on board by 11:00

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We split our evenings between the MDR and Buffet. The buffet layout is so much better than Grand Class Princess ships. This was our 12th cruise with Princess, so the menu in the MDR hasn't changed much. Always good, just same old, same old. We did go to Crown Grill and had a nice experience.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Plenty of activities but I prefer to chill on the balcony.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Great music. Caught the last ever performance of Encore with this particular troupe. Awesome show. Comedian AJ Jamal was the funniest show we've seen on any cruise. The magician they had was not enjoyable. Too much singing and attempts at comedy and the magic was very amateurish.

Children's Programs

Very few kids on the cruise and none were ours.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our Stateroom Steward, Rina, was great! Kelly at Guest Services helped with issues with our account and let us know when resolved. All in all, we didn't encounter any staff that were not friendly.

Ship Quality

Overall, our favorite ship. I'm giving it only 4 stars for one reason... You cannot walk completely around the ship on the Panorama Deck. On Grand Class ships, like Ruby and Crown, we used to enjoy walking from bow to stern. When we take all of the other positives of the ship's design, however, it is our new favorite ship. Sure wish the next class would bring back the grand promenade.

Cabin / Stateroom

I had read in reviews that the balconies were noticeably smaller, which they were, but it didn't bother me as much as I thought. Finally, two power outlets at the desk! Thanks, Princess!

Ship tip

While they are still testing Ocean Medallion, if we order a drink through the App, the first drink was free. Not sure how long the freebie will be available.

Ports of call

San Pedro (Los Angeles), California Did not visit port

Live in the area. Used Port Parking at $19.00 per day.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Way too hot and humid. Been several times and have done excursions previously. This was an overnighter, so didn't go off board until day 2. Just walked around the Marina.

Loreto, Mexico

Our favorite port in Mexico. It's a tender port and did have to wait 45 minutes or so. Again, very hot and humid. Just walked up and down the main pedestrian street.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

Been there, done that. Beautiful city but we did what every regular cruiser does... Go to Wal-Mart and the Mall! The highlight of the entire cruise was after leaving port, we sat on our balcony for about two hours and watched lightening, listened to thunder and saw several pods of dolphins chasing us.

Manzanillo, Mexico

3 out of 5
First time in Manzanillo, We took the City Tour excursion from Princess. Of all the ports we've been to, this was the most impoverished. Once you saw past the dilapidated housing, it's really quite a beautiful location.

Scheduled off at 10:15 AM. Called our tags at 9:45 AM. Super easy
