Review summary

This was a very enjoyable cruise. Got some R&R and would recommend this itinerary to anyone without mobility issues.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Great, I was surprised to get the Medallion on this Princess cruise so that surpassed my expectations for the Embarkation

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
I like that the dining room repeats their menu from cruise to cruise because I got to order things I knew that I would enjoy on this cruise. I only ate breakfast in the buffet but I still enjoyed the choices. We did not do specialty dinning but we did eat in the wheelhouse bar for the pub lunch. I enjoyed the fish and chips and bread and butter pudding at the pub lunch.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Zumba and line dancing were the activities we did the most. This was my first cruise in which the cruise director was also a certified Zumba instructor. Matt O' was able to pull stings when it came to scheduling a Zumba class on a port day, when inclement weather caused a cancellation of a Zumba class on a sea day.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We saw AJ Jamal the comedian. Michael Misko the Magician for two performances each. We saw the Colors of the World which was put on by the Princess singers and dancer. Even though we've seen it on a different ship we wanted to see how this cast would perform. Every show we attended was outstanding

Children's Programs

No one in our party is in that age range

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our wait staff Marcello and Dante were attentive to our needs. They made our dining experience enjoyable.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
This was our second time aboard the Royal Princess. The ship always looked pristine and iimaculate.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our cabin was a comfortable size and when requested the room was cleaned to satisfactory standards

Ship tip

The lotus spa is on deck 5 rather than on a higher deck near the gym

Ports of call

San Pedro (Los Angeles), California

I emarked on the ship at this port. With Royal being too large to fit in the existing terminal a new building that looked like an airplane hanger was used to check-in passengers and issue their cruise cards and then on Disembarkation for customs.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico Did not visit port

Did not find an excursion we were interested in

Mazatlan, Mexico

This port was next to a shipping yard full of shipping containers. There was a free tram from the ship to get to the cruise terminal entrance where there were venders selling souvenirs. We had a Segway tour at this port so from the cruise terminal we were shuttled in the back of a pickup truck with a cover to the boardwalk where our Segway tour would begin. We enjoyed the segway tour alot and it spurred use to want to find a segway tour in our own city.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico Did not visit port

We did not find an excursion we were interested in.

Disembarkation

We had to be out of cabin before 8am which was easily accomplished. I don't remember when I heard the announcement but over the intercom system we learned that we were 20 minutes ahead of schedule to Disembark. Our meeting time was 9:30 but we were ready to meet before 8:30. When we arrived at our meeting location we learned that our luggage tag color was ready so that we could Disembark when we wanted to. Getting off the ship was quick once we decided to get off. We got to our pick up location 30 mintues before we had to get off the ship.
