I love the smaller ship and the Caribbean vibe on board
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation was a breeze. No issues getting on the ship
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The food was ‘ok’ but not ‘outstanding’ like I’ve had on other ships.
I did not do any specialty restaurants. The MDR was ok and as usual they accommodated the vegetarian in our party and made sure she had food to eat. The windjammer had its usual fare
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
I don’t usually do much on-board activities during the day . But the shop schedule appeared to have lots of activities to choose if one desired. I sat on my balcony and read
Entertainment
4 out of 5
The ship’s dancers and singers and musicians were good. Wasn’t that impressed with the headliners ( comedians. They were just ok)
I loved the caribbean music a lot. The band/singer were great
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
The staff, as usual gave great service, though I would say they were not as engaging as on other ships.
As an example, usually by the second day the wait staff knew everyone by name and what your food preferences were. If they knew our names they sure never called us by name.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The ship seemed well maintained. I found no issues. I loved that it was a smaller ship. I found my way around quite easily and it was also great for my 88 year old father as well as the young first time cruiser that was in our party
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Amazingly the Junior suites on this cruise were less than balcony cabins so I booked two junior suites. One at regular price and one was a guaranteed jr balcony ( where the cruise line assigns your room and there is a high likelihood you may have a partial obstruction). For $300 less I picked a guaranteed option and held my breath.
It was at the end of the row so part of the balcony was closed off. It was ok though because it was enough space for one person to sit out at a time and since I usually sat out at night and my cabin mate did early morning, that worked well. If you wanted shelter from the sun you could sit under the covered area. I felt it was well worth the money and I was happy.
The room was larger than the regular cabin. The bathroom came with the shampoo, conditioner and body wash and hand soup. It came with a tub-though it was quite deep and may be troublesome getting in for elderly or folks with hip issues. It also came with a coffee pot and had adequate storage. I thoroughly enjoyed the jr suite.
Disembarkation was not pleasant. Well leaving the ship itself was ok but here’s where things went wrong.
We had a later time to leave the ship 930. The shuttles that take you from the ship to the terminal stopped running at 10😳.
So, if you ordered a cab ahead of time, I believe they were as you exited the building. If not you had to walk to the terminal. Here is the kicker. If you were a local or had a local pick you up, that gravelled parking lot was almost a mile walk from the terminal…. In the hot sun… carrying your luggage. Fortunately for us my 88year old dad ordered a porter who carried all our luggage on his cart or we would have really been a mess by the time we made it to local parking.
They need to do better!! That is ridiculous!!
