Review summary

It was nice to cruise with family on this cruise, but I had just returned from a super Holland America cruise, so this one had drawbacks.

Embarkation

Quick—i went at my assigned time.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Buffet had a good variety. Seafood specialty did not have crab nor lobster. Dining service was slow but food mostly good. Sauces on many meats. On lobster night we were limited to two tails. Steak often had gristle. Desserts were good.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
A variety was offered for those who want to keep busy. There were NO inside lounges facing forward. One of the two lounges in the back was often restricted to diamond.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
A good variety for the week.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Service on cruise ships is always good.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Elevators didn’t go to every floor, and some floors had dead ends. NO forward lounges. Of the two (Deck 11 and 6) at the back, one was often limited to diamond, and the other often had activities in the adjoining space.

Cabin / Stateroom

2 out of 5
Small!! Barely room for the bed with nightstand at only one side. Bathroom was small. Sink could barely handle washing hands and brushing teeth. Water pressure was difficult to rinse clothes. One must stand sideways to shower, then turn very carefully. It was kept clean, and the steward was friendly.

Ship tip

Check the schedule for the buffet—it closes at various times during each day.

Ports of call

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
Famous ruins in the area. The port has typical tourist shops.

Belize City, Belize

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

2 out of 5
Interesting, but people hawking tours. One man wouldn’t let us walk to Coxon Hole alone then wanted money, of course. Port is west of Coxon Hole.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

5 out of 5
Lots to see (flamingos, iguana, birds, dolphins) and shops right in the port area.

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
A long wait on the ship then again for the four customs officers. Don’t schedule a flight before afternoon.
