Review summary

Overall I was happy. First time on royal so have nothing to compare it to but I would rank it 3rd I guess. Celebrity, carnival and RC then Norwegian. Not all for ship but different criteria. Hard to say in short survey but I’d try one of the bigger ships and not go to good ports to really compare the line. For the price it wasn’t great.

Embarkation

I had a suite so did not have a queue. And was very easy. I did not like no one to take a picture as we got on.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
MDR was good for dinner. Was not that happy with breakfast. Asked for avocado toast on second day, was told it’d be there on next day and took my room number and everything and asked every other day and it wasn’t available. Don’t like the buffet (basically) in the MDR if I want windjammer I’ll go there. Got the N/A drink package because even though I like to drink my roommate doesn’t drink that much. It was not great options for those drinks, just sugar designed as a drink. Celebrity had a whole menu dedicated for it. I had the alcohol package then and still ordered from the N/A sometimes because they were so good. And took a pic of the menu because so impressed. My MDR did complain and we got a special dinner one night so that was very special.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
Rock climbing was fun but small. I was just happy to do it and surprised I didn’t have a wait because I assumed everyone would do it. It was busy but everyone got their turn quickly. Adult solarium was terrible. So hot in there. Wanted to get away from kids but no open air sun. Did trivia sometimes but overall not impressed. Casino tables were not always open. High limits for a cruise and I think they noticed no one going so they lowered. So many more people with that change.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
The magician comedian was FANTASTIC. The mime was not good at all and I like them. The salute to famous singers wasn’t great. Did not do the western night because too busy.

Children's Programs

No children.

Service and Staff

2 out of 5
Ruth from MDR was great, her assistant the first two nights were great but left because his contract was done. Other guy seemed new to cruising. My cabin steward never told me his name (still have no clue what it was and knew the people on either side of me and they don’t know either), didn’t give ice daily and we called daily to get it so you would think he would get it after day 2. Left bottles of wine out so he’d know. Only 2 animals. Left one wash cloth sometimes. Very strange. And IT WAS A SUITE!

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
Older ship but had good stuff. Casino too small and couple of times stairs led to places that you could not get out of.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The tub is nice. The overhead lights did not work and probably hadn’t worked in a while. Bulb was loose but not broken. Huge balcony and lots of closet space.

Ship tip

Only go for the ports because not a lot of things to do.

Ports of call

Venice, Italy

5 out of 5
No excursion. Got there 3 days early and had a blast getting lost CONSTANTLY.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

4 out of 5
Cool walled city. Want to go to Split to see the difference. Great food.

Kotor, Montenegro

3 out of 5
Local tour guide. Was fine.

Santorini, Greece

5 out of 5
Not nearly enough time there and not just because of the tender. I will go back.

Katakolon (Olympia), Greece

4 out of 5
Liked downtown but didn’t get to do much in Olympia.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Quickest I’ve ever been a part of and left after I could have.
